Fog Lights: OEM vs after-market ???

I had a cracked fog light..... and now a broken one since both screws snapped off when I tried taking them off to replace a burnt out bulb. I also have water leaking below my passanger headlight dripping onto the fogs since there's a little gap in the upper bumper/fender area creating rust so thats why the screws snapped off

should I go stock replacas from ebay for $85

Are any other good alternatives for fog lights??? plastic vs glass??? I would like to go HID fogs but $$$ is an issues trying to keep under $100 maximum ...

If you ebay replacement lenses, buy them in pairs, and contact the retailer asking them to verify both are from the same manufacturer.

I had to RMA a perfectly fine replacement lens because one used a clear adhesive to attach the glass to the housing, and another used a white adhesive (like the Nissan lenses do.) When unlit, it was obvious the one with clear adhesive had a "black ring" around the lens, where the other didn't. It bothered me enough to pay shipping both ways for the RMA.

That's about my only advice. Apply penetrating oil to the lens screws/bolts to inhibit them from rusting... maybe that's not a bad idea, too.

the ebay link I have in my original post states that the fogs comes in a pair... about the black ring... from what I can tell it looks like its darker then stock

I'll defeinetly apply grease on the screws when I install them...

PB B’LASTER Liquid Penetrant and Lubricant would this qualify???

I sprayed it before I tried to unscrew the blots and they still snapped off

Sure, that will work. Not instantly, however, which is probably why they snapped. I've been using Kroil... amazing stuff.

That was probably very frustrating to snap those bolts. However, you will love your new glass lenses. Your remaining un-cracked lens was probably scratched and pitted. The new ones will be clear and clean. It will all be good in the end.

I don't think so. But you could make your own. Someone on this forum did exactly that very thing a month or two ago. They created a plexiglass lens on top of the black plastic housing. He did a great job, but it seems like a lot of work, and that kind of thing demands skills.

those two pics are his HID fogs which look pretty damn good

How about anti-seize? Good luck with that Ebay stuff! Courtesy Nissan Foglight Kit is less expensive than replacing the lense!

I would suggest Depo brand or TYC. I have an oem foglamp on one side and a depo foglamp on the other side. Believe it or not the Depo lamp shoots way better than oem. I also have a brand new TYC waiting to be installed to see if it also shoots out good as well.
