Headers / test pip / catback??

A question about the exhaust system... I just recieved obx v2 headers and Im waiting for the backorder on the megan oe rs catback setup. Does this completley bypass the stock catalytic converters? I was thinking it leave a cat in so I bought a test pipe on ebay... will I be able to use the test pipe or is it not necessary with headers and catback?

I was reading that bunch of people said it sounds better with a test pipe, thats why I bought one... well I'll test it with and without the test pipe and see which I like better. I dont mind if the car is loud Im not an old guy or anything. I like to scare little kids! lol jk

So anybody else tried this with headers can I get some opinions?

Depends on what test pipe you get. I have that Megan Racing ebay resonated test pipe with Cattman the rest of the way and it's super mellow, no rasp at all

For the record I have v2OBX headers with the stuff listed above.

i bought the cheap ebay one... its 1/2 the price of megan... isnt it just a straight through pipe? I didnt think it would make a difference.

I have a warspeed y and high flow cat with the megan catback. All fit together nicely and it sounds solid.

I had OBX headers with a test pipe and 2.5" custom piping to a Flowmaster 40 series and it was raspy as hell. Seriously sounded like that stupid honda bees-in-a-can sound. Changed it for a Magnaflow High-Flow and it sounds awesome now.

Seriously, don't bother with the test pipe. You'll regret it.

You had a flowmaster 40 on your car, that's where you went wrong. I have the obx, test pipe, Megan setup and it sound really good. You get popping on decel sometimes but acceleration sounds incredible

If I had to do it over again, I'd go Magnaflow. I don't like the flowmaster that much. It sounds good with my setup but I think a Magnaflow would sound even better.

First hand I have one laying in my garage and I think theres other threads talking about this. I think some people took them to exhaust shops and payed to have them shortened and rewelded. I didnt feel like paying to have this done and after further researched found that alot of people thought it sounded like crap with this installed so I said the heck with it. I even emailed the guy I bought it off of on ebay and they didnt do jack for me I was pissed.

I total understand you as well. The one I have was no brand like megan or anything though. I dont know if theres a difference between 5th and 5.5 gens but it was definitely longer that my stock cat. I found out the hard way had whole exhaust pulled apart and went to put it together and it pushed my whole catback back to far and everything was all screwed up. I was like wtf and realized it was the cat.

I dont know if its resonated or not... it didnt say anything about that. I hope so but it was pretty cheap so maybe not...
