why on earth would you put an octane booster in your car.

It probably is a coil. Unless you disconnected the battery power for about a day or used a scantool to erase the codes I'll bet that you still have P1320 and P03xx codes set. DO NOT "reset" the damn ECM again. You will probably have a reocurrance anyway. It's not related, but as mentioned above......why are you using an octane booster? Just use 91 or 92 and forget the octane booster.

i used the octane booster to clean the engine..the previous owner was running on 87octane for about 7 years...damm i hope this not the origin of my issue.....arffff a coil....$$$$ again...so why the car run great now after resetting the ecu.. if the coil is dead its seem
that the problem suposed to stay...,,

These coils usually don't just "die". They usually start causing an intermittent miss (almost imperceptable at times) that can come and go, and at any power level, over quite a long period of time. I had a couple of episodes of a miss over several weeks before I checked and I had a P1320 code only. A couple of days later the SES light finally came on (steady, along with the TCS and SLIP lights) and the cylinder missfire code had been added. Just keep driving the car for now. If you get a repeat of the SES light coming on, then get it hooked up to a scantool.

Before we go with the coils being the problem... do you know if the originals are still in the car? Most died around the 50,000 mile mark or so, how many miles do you have? Can you get under the hood and tell us what color dot is on the coils in the car now?

On another note, my coils died around the 50,000 mile mark, cylinder 6 & 2, I replaced all six. I have 110,000 on her now and for about a year now every once in a while when I crank her over she will get like you are describing. Shakey' rough start, but it goes away about 4 secs after start... done it for a year and hasn't thrown a code. Like I said its every once in awhile, and this was the same symptoms I was having when the originals died. The difference being that then it would continually get worse where-as now it does it sporadically. I would not do anything now and just monitor from here and if you get more occurance's or if when you are driving it does it then pull codes and verify if the coils are the culprit, then replace the bad one.

I would still be curious if you have the origs. or the new.

EDIT: just saw you had 118,000 kilometers, not sure what that converts to in miles, do you?

and my car still on the original spark plug and coil....74000 mille/118000 kilometre

My first coil was going at 53,000 km. Recent retail price from dealer in Vancouver was $118 cdn, but they should give it to you for about $105. Left bank (front) coils are different from the right bank (firewall) coils. When you get the P03xx code it'll tell ya which one (assuming this is your problem). You could eliminate the possibility of a plug by changing out the plugs first (use OEM or equivalent plats only). But the fault detection system on these cars and a scantool are your best friend.

Each......Hanchin with the grey dot (I think the grey dots have failed as well, mind you). I wouldn't trust anything off "fleybay". I wouldn't just automatically replace all six unless you plan to keep the car a long time. You might not have another failure for a long time. A friends '99 has only gone through 1 coil in 160,000 kms.

Yes easy to change yourself.

I would wait till you got the cylinder misfire code. I can't recall what the P____ is, but it will tell you which coil is bad. If its intermitent now, wait till it starts doing it more often, and while your driving. Mine wouldn't tell the Autozone scanner the bad cylinder until is was failing more oftern than not.

Thats some good miles on those original coils, however you will see more failing as you go. So if you can (afford) to change all six just knock it out now and not worry about it anymore.

Was going to ask you if there was any chance you sucked in some water, as I have accidentally fire up my car when the air filter was not quite dry from cleaning and immediately on start up my car shook off went the SES - TCS - ABS I shut down and checked and my MAF sensor was wet, so I spray clean it with CSC MAS to help dry it up and used a hair dryer to dry up everywhere else including the filter ... if you did get some water sucked in it will through 3 codes MAF - TCS & ABS once I dried everything up and cleared the codes everything was back to normal.
