Auto Headlights.

okay.. i have a 5.5 gen.. when the headlight switch is set to to automatic and start the car..they come on just fine.. and for the most part when i turn the car off it stays on for a period of time and then turn off.. just like it should.. within the first week of having the car i went to start it and the battery was dead.. and it did it again last week.. last night i noticed the headlights never turned off...luckily i caught the lights on after 2 hrs or so...and was able to start it.

so whats the problem? any input appreciated.

If you open the passenger side door, turn the ignition on with your auto lights set, then take the key out and leave, they will stay on, happened to me a few months ago and the lights stayed on for about an hour until someone told me they were on. Other than that, shouldn't be any problem.

Sounds like a problem with the battery saver feature. I would start hunting around the control unit.

This same thing happened to me a while back. I'm sure it was probably just me accidently flipping the switch to on (maybe when I used the blinker).

So anyway, I just manually turn my lights on and off now.

Make sure all of your doors are completely shut. The lights will stay on if the doors are not shut all the way.

at first i had this problem and thought it was the lights but turned out one of my battery cables were loose. check that first, it could be something else draining your battery.

Me too. Always have.

I think you're better off knowing the lights are off when you turn them off, rather than relying on technology to do it for you long after you've gone inside.

^^^ my cables are tight.. im pretty sure its the headlights killing it.. there is no reason if the doors are properly closed and lights set to auto that it should be on 2 hrs after parking the car...

anymore suggestions?

Sounds like the car thinks the key is still plugged in. When i turn off my engine but i sit in my car with the radio on, the lights stay on forever.
