hesitation

So im having this hesitation when the car is fully warmed up. If i give it full throttle is feels like it has no power. Its fine when i first start driving the car, runs like a champ. Its only after i have been driving awhile that i have this hesitation. I know it needs a new cat, but i wouldnt think a cat would make it run like this. The SES light is on because of the bad cat, and last i ran codes nothing else came up. It has been running like this for some time now. Im just getting tired of having to judge carefully when making passes on the highway. Any input of what could be causing this?? Thanks.

How many miles? If it's under 80k nissan should cover the cat under their emissions 8yr/80k emissions warranty.

Has almost 104,000. I cleaned the MAF a few months ago. Will it throw a code if the MAF is bad?

If you decide to get a new one i would call Dave Burnette. He gave me a great deal on one. $90 shipped to my house.

The $90 quote earlier was for a 00-01 MAF. You can drop that sensor into your 02 housing and it should work for much less than the price tag of an 02-03 MAF.

CAT does not expand when it gets hot! If CAT is clogged, it will remain clogged whether cold or hot.

maf issues

I also have the problem of my car running great cold but this is only after the install of my new cai. Mine is an 02 this maf for the 01 works great once you put the thermistor in it. I have another issue maybe the maxima gods can solve.. I have noticed two things one is right after header install car ran like a bat out of hell for like 2 days then went back to normal. Then i added new cai with k&n same thing happened car ran like it never had before then next day did the same thing. Anybody think maybe I have a computer issue or is that the ecu just making up for the modifications in the wrong way. I'm thinking VAfc or something any suggestions.

I'm going to see if the maf is bad first. Then go from there.

Do not use oiled air-filter element aka K&N

Well its not the MAF... I tapped on it while running and the engine did not stumble, so i pulled the plug off and the engine died. So that concludes that the MAF is still good.

That does NOT conclude MAF is good. A bad MAF is different than NO MAF.

There are literally hundreds of replies where replacing the MAF was the answer. You don't need to know the question :-)
