Cruise INOP, reverse lights on, speedo off
Cruise INOP, reverse lights on, speedo off
I feel these issues are connected.
-Cruise control does not work
-Reverse lights stay on ONLY while in gear (6-spd)
-Speedometer is off by 3-7mph
Bought my car two months ago and noticed the reverse lights didnt work. Car lot replaced the bulbs. A friend told me my lights kept flickering after that. Turns out the reverse lights stay on at all times except in neutral.
The speedometer is off about 4mph @ 70mph which makes my MPG's about 32 on the highway, and over a period of 100 ACTUAL miles, my car looses 5 miles.
Long story short, after battling with the dealership, many parts have been changed, and it still does not work.
Items that have been changed:
-Neutral Safety Switch
-Reverse Indicator Switch
-Canister Valve
-Vent Valve
-Cruise Control sensor connected to the brake pedal
-"Manual Transmission Control Assembly" $$$$
Hopefully this thread will be read by a Nissan technician or someone who has had this problem before... any help would be appreciated, I've dumped more money into this issue than needed.

Original from what came on the car. 225 50R17.
I also forgot to add that my sister has an 02 GLE, with 225 50R17 tires. I took my GPS in her car and took it down the road and her speedometer is EXACT.
you need to look up the wiring diagrams in the FSM. I had a problem where my cruise control would not work, and found that this can be caused by a few things: brake pedal sensor problem, gear select sensor problem, clutch sensor problem and maybe something else. For me, my gear select switch on the transmission was broken (literally) and I ended up wiring in a switch to the clutch pedal to fix it. If you go through the troubleshooting in the FSM and follow every step you should be able to fix this. I would start by working back from the cruise control problem

Thank you much for the FSM!
and yeah I demanded a carfax just like on the commercials lol. The sales manager procrastinated with it, and didnt get it to me until after I signed the papers, but I still got it.
I'm the 4th owner, and it was kept in Baton Rouge with one owner, a suburb with another owner, and in Lafayette which is where I live...
While its not a New Orleans vehicle, you still never know! But I've taken a few things apart on it, and I didnt see any signs like I had on my last vehicle, a Sentra, who was unfortunately a Katrina victim (which is why I got such a good deal on it!)
