So apparently after removing the more "right" hose connected to the vias, the whistle goes away. Which makes sense 'cause I don't got a Cel/ses light and I read up saying that if it's bad you won't because it's not connected to any sensors.... My idle randomly drops and I notice a stutter between the 3k-4k rpm.

Here's my questions.
1-Is it safe to drive with it bad for a little 'till I get another one IF There's nothing to do(see2)

2- Is there anything to do to clean it? Check if anything is broken? save myself some money...

3- If the parts expensive(assuming go to dave b) or costs more than $100 I'm better off just getting a spacer kit with the vias block off plate correct?

Also, the whine comes and goes... I'm worried 'cause people have had bad VIAS before but I've searched and never came on anyone with a sound like this.......

If the VIAS isn't functioning properly, you could just try dumping it and using the block plate. That's not a bad approach for only $40, since you're considering the block plate anyway.

 

Can I just purchase the block plate rather than the whole kit?
How much for a stock good vias if you don't mind me asking?

He sells 2 block plates: $40 and $60. The more expensive one is polished and pretty.

I don't know how much a new VIAS would be. Call your dealership and hang on to your wallet.

 

Am I looking at any "side effects" if i just block it off?

 

my boy has his blocked off and no problems at all..but get some definite from the 5.5 owners with it done up here.

 

That's all i'm waiting for before I go ahead and order one.

subliminal, i get the stutter at 3-4 k when getting on the highway or such in 3rd gear. is this waht your referring to. if so what part are you saying isbad or the culprit because i have not been able to find what causes my stutter

 

I have the stutter reguardless. I fixed the whine but the LIGHT stutter isn't going anywhere. For my car i'm almost positive it's a weak maf do to my bad filter for a while, which ima get on NOW. Or my precats starting to fail.

 

Whoa, annoying. Sounds like someone stuck one of those fake turbo whistlers somewhere. Anyhow, can you elaborate on this 3-4k stutter issue?

 

i dont know about E but when hitting the hiway and get into 3rd and get going once i get about 3-4 the car seems to surge or jutter. i dont get it in 1st or 2nd say on the streets. at least i havent noticed it. so E you say it maybe the MAF. does that mean get a new one from say the junkyard on a similar max?

 

I don't wanna tell you to just buy that part, bad 02's, maf, dirty tb, clogged pre-cats/cat... Could be alot...... I'm not comfortable telling you to just buy a maf simply off it stuttering.
