Weight Reduction - What to remove?

Weight Reduction - What to remove?
Just wondering what would be reasonable to remove to get rid of some weight. Nothing too much since it's a DD, but I don't haul more than 1 person around at a time and I don't carry alot of stuff, so this is what I came up with...
- Rear seats
- Rear seat splits
- Trunk carpet
- Spare tire
- Clean car - nothing extra in the car that doesn't need to be
Any other suggestions? Any idea how much weight the car could lose from weight reduction?

Since no one will be sitting in the back seat, remove the rear door panels as well.
Might want to go ahead and remove all the floor mats, all four of them probably weigh more than the carpet in the trunk.
Removing the rear seat belts will probably save up a lot of weight too, I know they weigh a lot in the Mustangs.

cut the engine in half and take out 3 spark plugs.
but in all seriousness, even if you manage to cut 500 lbs, there will be very minimal fuel economy gains. but if you insist, you've already listed everything that can be salvaged. you don't need a spare tire, just keep a can of "fix a flat" handy.

if you dont care about sound, take out all the tar under the carpet and under the panels in the trunk. you can pull some tow hooks from the bumpers, you can find some brackets holding wiring in the engine bay that are unnecessary. take out stuff like the VIAS vacuum canister. if youre doing this for fuel economy, dont. if youre doing it for racing, and you dont care about sound levels, take out everything in the interior that you dont use, like the door panels, rear cup holders(back of the "bump"), seat belts and bars, child seat anchors, etc

This is for performance, not fuel economy, I don't care about that. Some of you had some great ideas, but I don't need to go to extremes like driving with a half tank and no washer fluid.

When I go to the drag strip I never have more than 1/8th of a tank. That's well over 100 pounds saved. I also remove the jack, spare, floor mats and tools.

The gas idea is anything but but exreme. Gas weighs around 6.5 pounds per gallon. Our tanks hold around 18.5 gallons. Half a tank weighs about 60 pounds. That's way more than the back seats, trunk carpet, spare and jack all put together.

:matt93se: I was asking for help and advice, not a dumbass. Thanks, you can leave now.
Sorry it's "ghetto", I just never did it before and I wanted to see how the difference in sound and feel was and the car doesn't really feel different, but it is a good bit louder inside.

How about do some actual power adding mods, or better yet, getting a sports car since that seems to be what you're after?

I have pretty much every bolt on already.
Basically, you've got three options.
- Continue to sink money into your Maxima with real power adding mods like nitrous or boost to make it faster
- Get yourself a faster platform to start the process over with.
- Become satisfied with your Maxima the way it is

What truth was in what you said? None. I have plenty of power, I am just looking at other things to do now. What I choose to do with my car is my choice.
I bought it because I knew it was reliable. I never had intentions to mod it because I figured there was no support for it, glad I was wrong. I get that "family car" shlt all the time. But when it comes down to it, if someone wants to trash me, fine so be it. If they wanna run their modded Rabbit against me, I'm all for smashing them.
And yet you're still not happy. Which is why you should have bought something fast, not a family sedan...

No offense man but you should get your skills up before worrying about doing more work to your car. With your mods you should have been cracking 13s, even on street tires. High 14s isnt even really close to what that car is capable of.

I'm pretty sure you can't drive my car. Let's not start down this road...
