I have heard about that happening to 3rd gens frequently. I guess you will either have to buy new harnesses, get some off a wrecked 5th gen, or buy the 2k2 HIDs.

Yup, 85watt PIAA's to be exact. They have been in car for a little over 18mos.

Mine melted about 6 months ago, and a dealership told me that to fix it, they had to replace the whole harness which costs $650 + labor, becuase they do not sell just the plug, they sell the whole harness from the light all the way back. Took it to another dealer talked to one of the mechanics, and hetold me that he could put a plug from a new nissan truck. <-Because for the truck I could buy just the plug. Ended up doing that, and it cost me 75 bucks...

Good looking out! I'll try that. when your harness melted, did it cause your low beam not to work?

Yeah... At first I thought that the plug had come lose, because when I moved the plug, it would come back on. It was melted inside, but I had never noticed, I would just push it in harder to make it work. So when I finally decided to take it out to look what the problem was, it came off hal melted. And yeah, it caused my low beam not to work.

I was running some HyperWhite H4's I got from eBay. Not cheap ones, they were nice. 55watts, just like stock. (only bulbs on my car that are not PIAA cause they were nice) a ciuple days ago, my driver side headlight harness melted! I called DaveB and orderd a new wire harness for $8 shipped! He said the bulb probally just blew. Time for PIAAs I guess.

I had some aftermarket lights in my 99 and after just over a year one of the plug melted. The low beam would not work, but the high did.
I took in to the dealer to get it fixed. If you can do it yourself, order the part and do it. The dealer charged me $160 or so, most of which was labour.

You should run 55w...so what do you expect when you put the 85w...that you would just get more light made with the same wattage as the stock one

Did you know it would have melted before you put the Piaa?

Man, I hope I have nothing to worry about. I got the PIAA Xtreme whites 55W=85W. I did this specifically because I was under the impression that they only draw 55W, yet put out light equivalent to an 85W bulb.

There are 2 H4 PIAA options, 55w and 85w. The maxima runs on 55w and if you put the 85w it will just melt your harness like rockethship...it takes time but doesn't worth it. if i remember correctly the 55w puts out a light eqivalent to 110w but i personally think its all BS...get he real 2k2 HID's and then see what's real lights

Before you go spending more than 10.00 dollars try going to a pep boys and look for the harness. i spent about $7 bucks and just replaced the crispy one. its not that hard just cut off the old one and then wire it to the new one, their should be three wires.

Man that sounds like what I was doing! Sometimes I would be able to flicker the high beams and they would come on! Most times I would jiggle the harness and it would come on!
