No AM/FM radio cable?

bought my Max (2002 SE 6spd) with a AVN6600 in it and the guy said that the AM/FM radio doesnt work. where does the cable come from for the cars antenna? when I take the deck out I cant find the cable for it back there. or should I just buy one of thos BMW antennas off Ebay? or can i just run a new cable from the stock antenna?

and just for fun where the heck is the antenna in our Max's

It should be back there, it might have fallen out of reach. It'll be a fairly thick black wire and you're going to need to buy an adapter (look at crutchfield.com) for it to work with your radio. The antenna is on the back window. Remove the C-pillar cover and you should see the antenna unit.

the antenna is built into the back window(hens no crappy metal rod)...you will need a converter for the AM/FM to fit the aftermarket stereo.

Don't forget to hook up the blue power antenna wire as well or else you won't get signal.

It shouldn't matter. The antenna runs the wire to behind the HU. There's no need to even go looking for it unless you're just curious to see it.

Well now that I know that I can know that the wire would be coming from the right. I didnt see it in there when I took it out before I posted this thread but I will have to take it out again and look harder then. There are a crap ton of cables back there.

any one have a pic of what the original connector looks like? I only know what aftermarket ones look like.

It's a black male cylindrical connector about 1/2" in diameter. Has a clip on it and two metal prongs coming out of it about 3/8" long.

Where does it hook into? I couldn't find anything for it to go to when I wired in my aftermarket HU.

The blue wire comes out of the HU, it connects to the blue wire on the harness that you plug into the car.

Did you fix the radio? Did you find the antenna?
Which way is the antenna wire running through from the radio to the back window?
Please post the pictures if you've taken while you were fixing it up.

Does the windshield to do anything with antenna? I have no fm and am reception after windshield has replaced! Does anybody know what is going wrong?

Runs along the passenger side.

Rear windshield IS the antenna.

Take it back to the person that replaced the window.

Ok guys I forgot about this thread. I got an adapter and plugged it in I can take pics if you guys want. i didnt have to hook up any blue wire but I think it was already done. its not like its hard to figure it out. if you can create an account on here you can do this you just have to get your hands dirty...(likewise with most things with cars.)

Thanks for the help

Jake

The reason an adapter will still not have as good signal as OEM is because the antenna is a two-pole signal. The adapter converts it to one. Nothing can really be done about it - but if radio is your primary concern, then you should just keep your OEM HU and system because radio quality will not sound any better with an upgraded system.

Are you guys forgetting to hook up the blue power antenna wire? That's what turns on your antenna amplifier.

I still haven't taken the time to look again but I don't remember seeing a blue cable coming from the stock harness.

The blue wire is from the aftermarket HU and connects to the blue wire on the wire harness adapter.

Not trying to be too much of a "budinsky" but could somebody post part numbers for both the wire harness and the antenna adapter?
I know I could do the searching, still, why reinvent the wheel?
Thanks
