How long will this Cattman Exhaust last?

Installed a Cattman Cat-back 3 years ago, then a Cattman Y-pipe 2 years ago. I drive about 7000 miles a year, including Upstate NY Winters.

This afternoon I backed the car up some ramps for better access to polish the muffler and tips. After 3 winters they still look fantastic; and the pipes still look good, just discolored.

I want to drive the car another 2 years (possibly 3). This afternoon got me to thinking: will this be my last exhaust?

Yea probably. Since you don't drive much and cattman's exhaust is made of stainless steel... but one day if you decide to take it off you will have fun taking it off with those rusted bolts...

3 years ago, the OEM pipes rusted out at the clamps; or the clamps rusted and took out the pipe in the process. Either way, I believe that was stainless, too. And the OEM muffler was a rusted hunk of crap.

Hotshot, if you've already got 4 years down, and the exhaust is in good shape... that's the kind of feedback I wanted. Thanks.

If the stainless exhaust is welded properly it will last longer than the rest of your car.

my cattman catback just has surface rust...its been on for 3 years

My cattman headers Im not happy about...they have been on 1 1/2 years and the hanger for the ypipe rusted and broke off leaving a baddd exhaust leak. I cannot explain how loud the car was. Meineke welded it up. But still...for $900 I wouldnt expect that to happen so soon

Guys, thanks for the comments. I'm taking the exhaust off my worry-list.

Not that I have an actual list of things to worry about, but you get my point. I will continue to enjoy my Cattman exhaust for the next few years, without plans to replace it.

ps. While I don't care for snow, I do love the climate variety of Upstate NY. Year round sun and rain would be boring.

Or just sun. If we get more than 5-6 inches of rain a year, consider it lucky.

What is the next car you plan on getting in the next 2-3 years? Are you keeping the Max? Something tells me you probably will

I miss the winters in Reno. I grew up there.. The four seasons, camping in Tahoe, snowboarding in May.
Can't wait for my son to experience fresh powder.

Keeping the Maxima until Fall 2011 at a minimum (2 more years), or Fall 2012 at the outside. The 3 year plan would dovetail into paying off the wife's Honda.

Based on today's market, the next car will be the Infiniti G37S Sedan 6MT. (Maybe the coupe, but probably the sedan.) The current G offers very similar performance to what I have with the modded Maxima, but far more refined, with RWD, and in a smaller, more luxurious package. Driven it many times. Want one bad.

Possibly a used-car purchase, but I might go new if Infiniti gets real with these direct-injection rumors.

In the meantime, loving the Maxima.

G37 =

I like the coupes even better. But the sedans are awesome as well. Two totally different cars.

I'm in Texas and my Cattman catback has been in service for 5-6 yrs and it still looks brand spankin new. I installed Oem stainless steel gaskets and hardware throughout and installed everything with antiseize....it should last the life of the car plus some! Hey knight yyz you mention that yor flex section is falling apart...Is that on your headers????? My ypipe I had installed several years ago still looked brand new when I sold it to Madcatz.....whatup with your flex section been running too much seafoam thru your engine?
