01 steering wheel on 00

I was just wondering if an 01 maxima steering wheel will fit on my 00. And if so will the plugs hook right into each other? Also wondering how you would be able to swap them.

Thank you
TJ

Yes it all should connect. What are you up to?

I think you need a steering wheel puller, the fsm should tell you how to remove it.

is there a difference between the 00-01 steering wheels?

one last thing that should be said...disconnect the negative battery side when messing with the airbags. also, start the car from the passenger side when your done so you don't get punched in the face

you should do that anytime your messing with airbags. the last thing you want is that thing going off, it hurts.

There is a difference between the 00-01 steering wheels. The 01 has the steering wheel-mounted audio controls like the 02-03, but no trip button for the trip computer. IMO, I think it looks a lot better than the 00 wheel.

Spiral cable might be different to accomodate for the audio control wires. You would need too check the FSM for the connectors.

If I had on 00, I'd definitely try to upgrade to an 01 steering wheel just for the audio buttons. I run a PAC SWI-X and I have audio controls on my aftermarket head unit.

You're just taking a risk since you will need to get the airbag with it. Hopefully it is the same from 00-01, just different appearance.

If your not a big audio guy, I wouldnt waste my time trying it. The only advantage is the steering wheel control. If you have the time and you have another means of transportation, I would try it

I'm probably not going to because I figured out how to take the wheel off and its going to be a big pain so, I'm just forgetting about it.

i pulled off a couple of steering wheels by just takign out the air bag and the main bolt behind the air bag then just yank it off. comes off with no harm done.

So to clear up this up, will the 01 steering wheel fit on the 00? Are there wires to connect the steering wheel controls or is there a lot of work that needs to be done? Just need a conclusive answer cuz i would like to do this to my 00

Do it only if the plug for the airbag is the same.... I wouldn't play with it if they weren't the same..... imagine yourself driving and POOOOFFFF ... my .02
