Oil filters that stops the clatter on start up.

I did a search and couldnt find my answer but I have a 02 max and I get the clatter on start up. I see that filters with anti drain back valves stop that but no names of filters were mentioned. Im using regular motor oil but I seen a lot of synthetic users have mobile 1 filters. the car has 110k on it.

the clutter is the cam sprocket, which is normal.
1-2 second also
has nothing to do with oil filter

I could have sworn I read that the oil draining back past the filter is what causes the clatter and the guide not having pressure on it. Not in that exact wording of course.

Just for laughs, I'll try using a mobil-1 filter next time. I have the VCT noise, but I know ifI take it to the dealer it'll be discarded b/c I still have a warranty, or it won't happen at that point. Normal dealer BS. I've used Ford motorcraft filters and now an OEM Nissan filter, noise is still there.

Ive tried mobil1 same thing, it has nothing to do with oil filter.

I think MOST of the oil filters for the Maxima have drain back valves built into them. I can be wrong though, but most quality filters have them.

The clatter is normal. IF it is persistent on every start-up even on a warm engine, then you may have a clogged oil circulation system. Running seafoam or oil crankcase cleaner will clean it up.

If'n you have it - you have it (the rattle).
Had mine since day 1 off the lot - it only gets worse occaisionally, and usually in cold weather.
no worthwhile, or cost effective cure - just one of those added "bonuses" the Nissan
engineers built-into the 5.5!

I ran M1 filters for a while, and just switched to a comparable WIX -- almost half price, and >/= to the quality of M1, as long as you're not looking to extend your OCI's past 7500k, which I don't.
Those dam M1's are up to almost $13-14 a pop now.
