4DSC decal on your 5th Gen
#123
Not for me, tiger. But thanks.
By all means, guys, go get exactly what you want on your car. Personally, I want something much smaller, more unobtrusive, and with some Nissan origin... like the pre-production decal design.

This might sound a little crazy, but has anyone tried contacting a body shop? While I don't think the 7th gen sticker would come with the glass, they might know where you can obtain the sticker. Suppose a 7th gen was unfortunately hit on that side of the car and the glass is broken. Then you'd have to obviously replace the broken glass, would you have to lose the sticker? I'm just making it up as I go along, but maybe they'd be able to help. Anybody have a local bodyshop?

lol replace the sticker! thats a good one. Thats like when I got my tint they removed the security sticker on the drivers door, I say its the tint shops fault my car was stolen.
I will post the mockups very soon here guys Im just busy trying to get my alarm and stereo in with no mounting kit...

6spd, can you mock that up again without the lower words, and with the cut-4 of equal height? My mockup was a squashed vector based font, so the verticals are narrower than the horizontals.
#132
Nevermind. Sorry, I just went and did it anyway. Here's 6spd's image with the "4" adjusted to height, and without the words underneath:
Here's my other one, for comparison:
And here's a zoom-in of the pre-production decal, (for some perspective):
And here's the Handel Gothic font, unaltered (except for the number 4):
And here's that same Handel Gothic font, but with each letter manually widened to approximate the pre-production decal letter width:
I don't know why I didn't try this earlier. This is a pretty darn close approximation of the pre-production decal.

Nzelinsky with your skill in automotive engineering and resources to make this sticker, along with my other mods, I'll be romping on Vettes and STis no problem.
#135
By the way, great designs so far guys!

nzelinsky has an image he's working with. We'll have some more info on this idea soon enough.

I'm definitely interested in one. I had one on my 3rd gen back in the day, and I liked it. Great job on the designs rochester. Exterior or interior doesnt matter too much to me, although I would like it to just be 4DSC without the text.

An exterior decal might make more sense, especially if you have tinted windows, no? I mean although the sticker designs are very cool, suppose in the rare instance you get tired of them? If they were interior stickers, you could risk the chance of peeling off the tint. So I guess in that sense an exterior decal would make more sense.
By the way, great designs so far guys!

Chill, guys. Let's first see whatever it is Zelinsky does, and go from there. No rules, no absolutes. Just some ideas and prototypes.
I'm guessing he's a graphic designer with access to the tech for die-cut vinyl. I doubt he's got the machines and materials sitting on his kitchen table... and it is a holiday weekend, after all.
Well, it is down here. I just realized as I wrote that Nick lives in Calgary. Oh well. My point is, relax and be patient.

^^ very good point John, I have been lurking and reading all the suggestions and prototypes that have come along, can't wait to see what the final result looks like ... great thread John.

No need for the fckuing attitude man. Everyone is giving their opinions and ideas....

nzelinski and I pm'd the other day, and he's planning on having some kind of prototype next week. So let's wait until next weekend (Sun, Dec 13) to see what comes, and reassess things then.
Thanks, Nick!
Thanks, Nick!

nzelinski wanted to take on this little project for himself and a few other interested parties (like me). We've PM'd a few times on this, and I figure to wait until after the holidays before reassessing things.
I'll bump this thread again after the New Year.

And we're back...
I've hooked up with erty76 (the Decal Specialist), who will be experimenting with cut-vinyl samples of this 4DSC design. More on that as it progresses.
On a side note, I was recently informed the old MAXIMA.ORG logo and byline were designed with a font called "Goodtimes". After experimenting with that font in the Photoshop forum on site banner alternatives, I realized that this Goodtimes font is a pretty solid baseline for the letters "DSC" in this decal design.
Go figure. Hiding here in plain sight. Check out this example:

Great call on getting Erty76 to design the decals. He custom made this one for me 2 years ago and it still looks great and its been through 2 winters and still absolutely no sign of peeling. Props to him, Im sure he will do a great job on this project.

Not there yet. Still in discovery phase.
However, if this becomes one of erty67's supported projects, look to his current decal costs and estimate somewhere in that neighborhood. In otherwords, fair and reasonable to the point of being a non-issue.
Stay tuned.

So yes, I will model them for us.
Hush up. There's serious sticker business going on here.
