Trunk mat

Does anyone have a picture of their trunk equipped with a navigational system? I am trying to figure out the difference between nav. and non-nav. vehicles in respect to trunk space. The non-nav mats are discontinued. I am ordering a trunk mat for a nav equipped car and I am not 100% sure that it will work. Perhaps someone can chime in.

the mat for the nav system is the same if you have the bose 7 speaker system according to the site i use for part numbers. How much is the mat down there? i was quoted about 450 CDN for one. I asked the salesman if I could order one without the gold plated shipping box. He wasn't too impressed. I hit the junk yard the next day.

That's silly expensive for a piece of carpeting. If I remember correctly, I believe it was a $100 US option when the car was new. (Hotshot would know... he still has his invoice.)

Heck, you could buy a remnant at the local carpet store, and take it to an upholster for a customized trunk mat at far less cost than that. In fact, now that I say that aloud (or write it, as the case may be...), that's not a bad idea.

Roy, have you considered doing exactly that?

Yes I have. One could essentially have whatever embroidered.
I am going to double check the cost of the nav-equipped mat today. The non-nav-equipped mat used to be around $40.

Ah, $40. That makes much more sense. My memory of a $100 option must have been the four mats in the cabin plus the trunk mat.

The carpeted trunk mat was a $59.00 option when new from nissan in 2003. My maxima came with every possible option excetp navi, heres a pic of my original window sticker that i saved. its crazy how in high demand these mats are now. and people will pay a lot of money for one. knowing that they are discontinued..

Rice, great pics. I see the only difference is the top where it connects to the back seat, correct?

hmm the non-nav one would work well with an infinity basslink....didn't realize they weren't discontinued like the regular ones. I have a 6th gen one I got for free, but it's huge.

No, the difference is the cutout on the left where the CD changer goes for the cars equipped with nav.

You are correct. Missed that one.
My custom subwoofer boxes are mounted in that area anyway. This is probably going to work then.

Roderiques, do you have any pictures of your custom sub setup in the trunk? I have a single 12" box sliding around in my trunk and thought that corner or by the scissor jack would be ideal places to custom build a box and maintain trunk space/folding seats. I checked your album and didnt see anything, any chance you can snap a few? Thanks!

Weird how you missed that. It was the first thing I saw in that picture. I didn't know Nissan but their NAV System in the trunk.

I'm also interested in how you customized your trunk area, Roy. I've got a few things banging around loose that drive me nuts. (jumper cables, torque wrench, booster seat, etc.) I've always thought some kind of fabric-covered box with velcro runners underneath might work. (Because there's no problem that can't be solved with a little velcro. )

I was quoted 450 for the NON nav up here. Nissan Canada is on crack when you ask for some quotes.
