Check engine light came on and I got (2) code one of them was unknown and the other was output shaft speed sensor and I get the AT light flashing when I start the car and will sometime come back up after driving. Whats going on?

Codes

The first code is as they said prior the Output Speed Sensor or it's also called the Revolution Sensor. It is a small sensor located on the drivers side of the car. Daveb can get it to for around $75. Great thread on the org. on how to do it yourself. Take off the driver side tire, loosen one 10mm bolt, disconnect plug, reverse procedure and done. 30 minutes MAX. The other code? ???? Could be just an affect from the revolution sensor.

I ordered Auto Trans Speed Sensor Output; Transmission Revolution Sensor but there are two that are identical. (There is another one behind the first one in the pic) The pics seem to indicate it is the very first sensor however upon replacing it the transmission would not shift. I put the original back on and then replace the other sensor next to it. Car is shifting good again. The codes were cleared with my scangauge but I need to know if I replaced the correct part.. Not sure which is which....DORMAN Part # 917611

I wanted to be clear about something on my post. "I put the original sensor back on and then replace the other sensor next to it" with the new one. My trans shifted just fine but I was not convinced I replaced the correct part so I put the original sensors back in. (I did spray some of that electrical contact cleaner on both ends) I have not had these codes come up again and it's been over 1000 miles of driving. Maybe they were making a bad contact...not sure but neither sensor was replaced. Today I got two new codes just in time for Christmas. 1572 & 0158

@02_Maxima_6sd - I have had the 1572 code since 2007, so for 5 years, and haven't fixed it. It seems to clear on its own on long drives, OR I will have it cleared, drive around a bit, and then go get the car inspected. Not sure if that's good for the car...but...on the upside, I can still pass inspection every year Though now I am getting 1574 and 0720, so I am probably going to replace the speed sensor (or sensors?) and see if that eliminates those two codes. Those make the engine light turn on so fast that I haven't been able to pass inspection yet.

Welcome to the Maxima Org. While I'm sure we all appreciate your enthusiasm, these are dead threads. Sometimes the search tool dredges these up. Glean what information you can and leave them to lie in their graves. You can't help these people anymore.
