ECU Question

I have searched but all the results are not what I am looking for. Anyway

I have an 01 without TC. Can I use any ecu from an 01 without TCS or does it have to be the exact model number? I believe mine is A56-P70 with a big 3T on top.

I am leaning toward the same model number. But not 100% sure.

According to car-part.com there are 4 ECU's available. Auto with TCS, auto no TCS, 5mt with 17" wheels, and 5mt with 16" wheels.

When mine fried last winter, I was told that the difference was in the ecu, considering that the ecu just applies brakes, and reduces rpm's. There isn't a tcs module.

I have called a few places on car-part and some of those guys are just a-holes. Anyway some of them say it does not matter and some say I need the exact part number. In theory there really should not be much of a difference between all the 00-01's, only a few added electronics like steering wheel mounted audio controls and I forget what else.

I just dont want to pick up an ECU and have it not work and waste my time having to program it with keys and what not.
