Trac Slip ABS Light On Constantly

Hey guys I've had this light on for a few thousand miles now and havent much worried about it because I know the sky wont fall if I drive a car without electronic nannies for a while. I prob would drag my feet on fixing it more but I have to get the car inspected in January and they'll fail me for any lights on, on the dash even though the computer isnt pulling any codes that I can read with my scanner through the obd2 port.

I guess I could go the shady route worse case scenario and disable those lights but I'de rather just fix it right.

I am thinking a wheel speed sensor but would rather not buy the thing just to find its something else, also need to figure out which side it is unless their universal.

The lights are on constantly.. it doesnt come on and then go off or anything like that although when this problem started it was intermittent, then became constant.

I know theres a way of checking to see if the sensors are any good illustrated in the FSM but the couple links I've tried to online FSMs have come up with dead links. If someone has a good link or just happens to know the process of the top their head I'd really appreciate it. I am guessing I'll have to check resistence across the sensor.

Thanks guys

I only have the 4th Gen FSM, it instructs you to measure resistance across the two sensor wires. They should all measure very similar, between 800 and 1200 ohms. There is also a procedure to pull the ABS codes by grounding a consult interface pin, but I don't know about 5th gen. Imagine it would be similar.

The ABS codes are shown by blinking of the ABS light not through the ECU OBDII.

The blinking of the lights is how most older cars would show codes. My buddies 89 foxbody mustang even does it this way. I'm not sure since the full integration of OBd2 if they do this any more though and some of the 4th gens were before obdII.

I do know that if I'm wrong there is no return policy on electronics / sensors

its a bad abs sensor you need to have the car hooked up to the nissan scan tool that the dealer has to show you which sensor is bad, a regular scan tool won't work

I'm aware. As I said before i have an OBD2 scanner and the car isnt pulling any codes.

I really do not want to bring this to the dealership. I know a mechanic at the Infiniti dealer I used to work at but havent talked to the guy in 6 months. I really dont want the first time calling him to be needing a favor, especially seeing as he already almost got fired for doing side work in the shop.

Clean off your ABS sensors prior to taking it to get diagnosed. You might just get off (no homo) by getting the gunk off of them.

Here's a very do it yourself type write up. Click.

As far as inspection goes...
I live in NY and we all know how **** the state is about its inspections. Lets just say I had no problem passing with the ABS, TCS and Slip light on. Not to mention my airbag light flashing as well.

Hope it helps.

5th gen FSM shows the procedure to pull codes and test sensors is very similar to 4th gen.
