My reverse lights are out and its not the bulbs. The car is a 6 speed and I'm taking out the console tomorrow morning to check the reverse light switch. Anybody have any other ideas? Thanks.

 

Possibly a blown fuse?

 

the switch is shot...easy fix just unbolt the old 1 and bolt the new one in......shuld be on the tranny if i remeber

 

Yes its on the tranny. FYI - these items are not sold at Autozone or Advance. Looks like a trip to a dealership.

 

my reverse lights are out also, I checked the fuses and their good. Where is exactly is that switch??

there are two brown harnesses on the transmission, one is for neutral the other is for the reverse. You may have to remove the stock intake to see them, drivers side

 

oh my god. here we go.

I bought my car 6 months ago with a similar problem, except the reverse lights stayed on in every gear. different people have tried to fix it, and now they just come on in every gear except reverse. I'm not going into the entire story unless asked to, but so far the things that have been changed are:

reverse switch
park neutral position switch
neutral safety switch

someone said its wiring, but I doubt it. someone else said its my shift fork, which can be taken care of as soon as I have to replace the clutch, since all that will be taken apart anyway.

I know that's not much info, but hopefully someone can benefit from the list of parts that have been changed.

 

your harnesses are backwards, the reverse and neutral switch have the same pinout and the same connector. Been there done that

 

i have a problem, my 95 maxima 5 speed manual has a play on the reverse light when i shift it to reverse. every time i shift to reverse i have to play with the shifter in order to keep the light on and hold the shifter so the reverse light wont turn off. what can i do?
