Towing capacity?

I own a 2006 suzuki gsxr 600 and i'll be moving to another city in a few days (aprox 250 miles away). i was wondering if it's possible or even wise to rent a small trailer or hitch and tow my bike to my new place of residence. i own a 2000 maxima....lowered on teins, sitting on 19s. the bike weighs about 400 lbs if it makes a difference. suggestions?

It should be fine, but the big thing to worry about is the tranny. AT or MT? If AT, you may want to reconsider doing it unless you have a VB mod.

You might have a problem locating the hitch though being lowered. You can't really rent a hitch, you'll have to get it custom installed. Not sure how much that will run, but take it to a reputable hitch or towing place.

sorry forgot to mention its a MT. i just got off the phone with uhaul and the price to rent a trailer is $14.95, but i would need a hitch installed as you mentioned, which will cost me over $100. i think i'm going to rent a pickup or ride the bike and take the bus back. thanks for the feedback

I believe the towing capacity is 500lbs with a max tongue weight of 100lbs, but I'm going from memory and could be mistaken.

What if you rent a truck + trailer to tow your Maxima and your bike? Most of the pick-ups we have here are the F150 long bed so the bike should fit just fine.

i think the tow weight is in the door jam on the same sticker with the tire pressures and vehicle capacities. i want to say it's 1000lbs.

Your car should have no problem with it but installing a hitch will be a pain and i would think you would want it off once you are done

I tow a 16' skiff. About 600lbs just fine. Just drive gently. Plenty of power and braking, but I worry about the trans

I used to pull two jetski's with a piece of crap 4cyl Dodge Stratus without problems. Hauling a 400lb bike aint gonna be a big deal at all.
