Whoa something wrong for sure. Your car is still under warranty right?

wow dennis that is weird. i'm stumped. it's a mechanical throttle control so it makes no sense. if it was my car i could say it was the computer being dumb.

Quansung, did you ever get this problem resolved, and if so, what was the problem?

(I know somebody with a similar problem, though a different car)

Hey Dennis, haven't seen you around in a while. Maybe the ECU is messed up with the electronic throttle?
Check out my sig and see what I have now...

I had this problem but on my automatic. When idling in D or in P, the engine would rev up to 3K RPMs. If I lifted up on the bottom of the accelerator pedal with my shoe, it would drop revs. I checked the throttle cable and loosened the bolt and gave the line some more slack. Problem hasn't happened since. You want to be careful not to give it too much slack, otherwise you'll have a problem with loose downshifts. I don't know if this is the same on manual cars and automatic cars.

Does anyone know if we should grease the throttle cable?

I don't think there IS a throttle cable on a 2k2 - isn't it throttle-by-wire (electronic)?
