OBDII Port Relocation?

I know this is odd, and may seem wrong, but is there a way to remove and relocate the OBDII port from the underdash location, at least from facing downward? I have my AutoEnginuity that I'd like to keep plugged in at all times, and the damn cable is like a brick. I'd break it off on the first clutch in.

Halp.

anything is possible if you know what you are doing. I'm sure that can be done, it's just a matter of picking a spot and extending the wires if you want to move it too far away. I'm sure you could just unscrew it and cable tie it to something under the dash if you were not feeling too fancy about it

Yeah, I'm not caring about the fancy stuff. I looked under there and didn't see any easy way to unscrew it. I was just wondering if anyone else had done it for datalogging purposes already. I would need it to be reversible so I can plug in for State Inspections, etc.

i thought it was screwed in or clipped in, but I haven't looked under there in ages. I was thinking of doing this ages ago, using speed tracer or whatever that software is called with the autoenginuity plugged in is almost impossible while driving.

If you can remove the port from the dash, you can use extension cables: http://www.obd2cables.com/products/.

Nice find man, thanks! Worst case scenario, if I can't find a way to remove it, I can always get a right angled extension.

Yeah, i literally would get the shortest possible length. I have my autoenginuity already in the glove box from the USB hub. I just need to not beat it up with my leg, haha.
