I don't think the STS would exacerbate the grind since this only changes the motion ratio of the shift levers. Although, the stiffer ES bushing may increase the grind as they remove compliance from the system which may constrain the transmission from natural motions; that is a lot of may's.

I did the STS and ES bushings at the same time, and don't recall a grind prior to the installation (but I wasn't aware/looking for one). I also performed these changes quickly after purchasing the Maxima because I felt I was driving a school bus. Regardless, I am in the same situation as you, the STS and ES bushings will not be removed as the benefit outweighs the problem.

No argument to that point. I'm keenly aware of these mods each and every time I drive the car, and couldn't be happier with them.
