By that reasoning (which I think is sound), the STS mod would exasperate the crunch. And while all that makes sense, I don't recall whether or not that was the case for me. I might have observed it at the time, but can't remember. Did you notice the crunch being more prevalent after the STS mod?

I did the STS and ES bushings at the same time, and don't recall a grind prior to the installation (but I wasn't aware/looking for one). I also performed these changes quickly after purchasing the Maxima because I felt I was driving a school bus. Regardless, I am in the same situation as you, the STS and ES bushings will not be removed as the benefit outweighs the problem.
