BOSE sub cuts out

Just as the title says, my blows sub cuts in and out intermittently. Wondering if this was a pattern failure and what i could possibly look for to fix it.

Alternatively, i have an old 240W pioneer amp kickin around, i was thinking of eliminating the stockie and juicing up the the sub a bit with a little more wattage. Possible? Could the sub handle it? Thx for any info.

Not sure whether you have a 5th or 5.5 gen, but I followed a write-up for 5th gens that completely fixed my sub cut out. It involves re-soldering 5 contact points on the circuit board that sits against the sub.

This is an unusually familiar sounding problem. Where in the hell did I hear this before?

I wouldn't know if your idea will work. Hoping that someone does and chime in. Below is the link for the 2000 woofer cut off fix, if interested.

iirc the bose sub is powered at 1ohm so i suppose it would work fine if u wired it 1 ohm, i dont see why it would harm anything i dont think its too much power for it. i had the same problem u had and i just eliminated the whole circuit board instead of fixing the solder joints. u do get some more of the lows but u get some of the unwanted hi's as well but its not enuff to make that big of a difference

I'm not sure if the 5.5 gen have the same circuit board, but see post #61 of the link I posted.

Edit: Also post #52 of that same thread has some information on the 2001 that might apply to your car.
