How to: True Cold Air Intake From Altima
Alright so I thought I read somewhere on the forums thats its possible to use a cold air intake off of an altima on our 5th gens with a little bit of work...
Its true, it works.
Needed:
02-06 V6 Altima Cold Air Intake Kit off of ebay:
$60 shipped for a good one.

New Filter, your choice, I used a K&N
Another coupler, I got on from autozone for $10
3'' Hole Cutter
Drill
Some Tape, I used it around the intake, around the hole.
Battery will need to be moved or relocated as a hole will be drilled.
I moved my battery to the trunk.
Hole needs to be drilled around the hole that is already there.
Will look like this:
The tube will need to be cut slightly, and somewhat on an angle... Cut and measure

Great writeup.
One question. Any worries about driving through deep puddles. Especially at speed.
I'm just worried about sucking up some water. From what I hear even a small amount can toast my expensive MAF. We all know what a bunch of water in the intake will do.

With the altima CAI you can cut it how far you want it down. I have mine by the splash shield but there is a good amount of room to cut.
I used a hack saw...

...if I ever decide to do a true CAI. I am now back to this...
...low end torque seemed to suffer massively with the longer tubing.

I'm not sure who I "borrowed" the idea from. 
But I do recall Orgullo turned the battery 90 degrees and went through a bunch of modifications, grinding, cutting, etc.
My way moved the battery closer to the engine within 15 mins of time...
...oh well.

Good observations to refer back to should people get the itch to convert their SRI to cold-air setup. Personally, I don't want to bring my filter closer to the colder air... I want to bring colder air closer to my filter.
How do we do that?

Yes, water holes... I mean, speed holes. 
Short of putting an offset air-scoop on the hood, I'm at a loss as well. I know someone here was convinced they didn't need their left, plastic under-panel, but that doesn't seem a valid option for rain & snow. And I remember a thread where someone crafted a very elaborate front-air scoop using the OEM collector. Except, without negative pressure, that little slit under the hood is pretty much useless, IMO.
It would have to be some kind of under-hood scoop directed to the SRI filter, and accounting somehow for road spray. You know, something insanely elaborate, to justify barely measurable gain, if at all.
