Shifter cable bracket... SOB!

...when it rains, it pours.

On my way to 9-ball league, slight roag rage with aggressive driving slam 1st to 2nd, tires spin, redline, slam to...

...WTF? Nothing. No gears. Shifter is loose as if connected to nothing. Damnit!

Stuck in 2nd gear.

Apparently this sounds all too familiar based on my search. Hope to get part tomorrow if lucky and dealer(s) have one in stock. There are 3 Nissan dealers within close distance, so crossing fingers.

Sometimes it just happens. Try and get a 6th gen bracket if you can. Direct fit and a little beefier in construction.

Dave B: 888-254-6060 or a junkyard

Sorry dude, that sucks. I'm always terrified of that happening to me too.

Just got off the phone with Dave B. He's confused as well.

There are four different part #'s.
34448-AU000 for 2002,
34448-8H800 for 2003,
and then 2 more for the 6th gen...

We both concluded that all 4 should be interchangeable since the trannies are interchangeable. I took the plunge and decided to order the most recent part # for the 6th gen.

Here's the kicker, the 6th gen parts are super cheap compared to the 5.5 gen. Total shipped is only $16.72!!!

I will let all know how this goes in a couple days when part gets here.

Thanks for sharing the information. I'm sure someone else will need it at some point. Great to have a resource like Dave, huh?

Wth are you doing back on these forums? Go back to your "G35" forums:P hahaha

And I definitely feel your pain dude, Same thing happened to me. Once you get the newly "same pos designed one" you'll start shifting slower. Also shifting so hard from 1st to second only causes you to lose traction. Take half a second more and you'll get in safely and pick up faster.

Here's the link.. part # 34448

hahahahahah I know what you're talking about, happened right after mine broke. I used 1 ziptie and granny shifted like crazy, always felt like it was going to pop outta gear at the worse times and fail on me completely, here's mine... The other dude literally used like 25 hahaha, was at the track.. wonder what his times were......

funny, the guys at my local dealer did not even want to order a different part number. they were acting like it will not fit when i knew it would. i ordered the one from the sixth gen max, 15$ more than the altima one, it was the same damn one from my 3rd gen altima..

basically, the altima one is cheaper.

Good info in here. Sorry to hear about the bracket. I had a shifter cable snap, and had to get it home by pulling on the damn stub of cable before. Not fun.

My 6th gen bracket is on the FedEx truck out for delivery today! I will take pictures once I get it and let all know how it went.

This is Nissan's 4th version of this bracket since the 5.5 gen was released. Sort of tells you something about the bracket, doesn't it? 4 different designs in 4 years...
