Painting my mag rims....??
Hello guys. I have been wanting to paint my stock mag rims for quite sometime. Powder-coating was an option but I just cant justify spending that money and time on a 173k car...Don't get me wrong shes in beautiful shape but you get my jist. Has anyone had experience doing this to these wheels?
Im sure extensive cleaning and sanding down of the surface would be the first thing. Then a primer...Black color and then a clear to finish...
Im sure the primer should have no problem adhering to the surface?

Yeah, Im trying to think of spring projects to keep my mind off the BLIZZARD outside lol.
Well they have a small selection of paint from Dupont. Satin black, but I guess ill clear it if I dont like the finish. Not sure what would be the best on a white car. But I already have blacked out windows and am going to darken the side markers and rear tails...

yep I saw that color on the list. Very nice. I like the fact that its a differentiating color from the tire itself yet its still on the darker side... HMMMMM
Thanks for the input. Dont happen to have pics of the rims on the whip?

I did my stock rims (winter rims) in a matte black so they would kind of match the color of the tires. I just used some matte black enamel outdoor spray paint, I think the intended application is outdoor patio furniture. So far it hasn't peeled chipped or anything like that and i live in an environment with lots of snow and salt.
I think the most important part is cleaning them well. I used soapy water and a wire wheel on a drill. then finished with more soapy water and steel wool by hand
