19" on the way! those with experience step in

19" 8.5 38 offset sport edition, mille miglia look alikes on the way. ill be going from 18" to the 19" and believe it or not dropping 7 lbs a rim even though the 19's are larger.

not too sure to go with the 245/35/19 or the 235/35/19. the 245 is 25.8 diameter and 22lbs and 235 is 25.5 diameter and 22lbs also. im going with continental extremecontact dsw because of the rave reviews, all year traction and great price. about 180 for either size a tire.

im lowered only in the front on h&r so for any with experience please chime in on which tire size works best. i also have front tokico blues that came last week after i hit a huge pot hole and bent my rim and shock which prompted all this.

i originally was just going to fix the rim and switch bent shock with tokicoblues but after ordering them i realizied i needed all four tires anyway and not just one blown out by the pothole. so i decided to finally go for it all and get those rims i have been looking at for years.

next question, should i just sell the tokico blues or try to return and get the illuminas now since im going with 19" and do not want the ride to be to harsh? my car is a 2000 but cosmetically has all 2003 parts and only just hit 90k and ill be paying mechanic to change struts and dont ever want to have to have them done again. so what do you think for those with experience with this? i loved the ride on my 235/40/18"s with just H&R up front and stock struts.

thanks to any with the experience to help, greatl appreciated.

245/35/19 is the way you want to go on an 8.5 wide wheel for our cars.

The 245/35/19s are closest to OEM diameter so stick with those.

245/35/19 on 19 x 8.5 +33 all the way around. Also sitting on Tein SS Coilovers at a low setting.

You will be fine with 245, especially with a +38 all around to include taking into account your ride height.

This is my 7th set of wheels, so I've been there plenty of times before.

Definitely the 245/35/19. Same OEM circumfrence and it looks really good with 8.5 wheels. I have the g35 19's and my max is dropped on Eibachs and illuminas. good luck!!

With an 8.5" +38 wheel, you can go with a 245/35 without the tires looking too bubbly and you shouldnt run into any rubbing issues. either way, you go (235 or 245) you will be fine.

Might as well have zero suspension because that's what it's gonna feel like. I hate how stiff my car is with the eibachs and 18's, I couldn't imagine 19's or larger.

thanks for imput guys its greatly appeciated.

i was def leaning towards the 245/35 just because they are wider/more astetically pleasing and give just a slight thickness in tire advantage hence im hoping slightly better ride quality.

The 245 also weigh the same and are only like $8 more so im def gonna go with them. i currently ride with 25.6 and these will be 25.8. slightly higher but i could use it because that front end is always getting caught on everything. good thing about stillen kit is it lowers body panels almost 2 inches in front and rear. well doesnt lower it but brings panels closer to ground so my ride def looks lower than it is.

i have just H&R in front and 18"s now and my ride quality as far as comfort is just about the same as stock and i have the gle but light years better handleing wise and so much of a better looking front end cosmetically! its only 1.4 inches lower but that coupled with the whole stillen kit really give the illustion of a much lower car. maybe its your springs that make your ride so harsh?

Could be my springs, and the fact that I am getting fat and old and falling apart. I'm 31 but feel like I'm 50 after being in the service. Hell, if H&R's feel close to stock in regards to comfort, I may need to change up.

k i have been wondering what was taking so long for the rims to come in and they never shipped them!!!!

they say my car really calls for a 19" 8.5 48 offset which they dont have anymore so the option wasnt there for me to order. they needed confirmation from me to go ahead and process cause they wont garanteed the 38 offset wont rub.

what do you guys think? i mean deckdout2 had 33 offset and it fit perfectly flush and worked? i should be fine right? i dont know what other factors to take into account?

245/35/R19 on 19x8.5 was the best setup for me.

I have a 19x8.5 +17 in the front. With minimal rubbing issues. You'll be fine.

well finally had tires installed and went with the tokico illuminas just to be safe. if anyone wants the tokico front blues that have never been installed that i bought first let me know.

anyway if i could do it again for any people reading this i would have went with 235/35/19 instaed of the 245/35/19's i purchased. reason being is i calculated wrong. my previous rims were 18 x 7 so i had 215/40/18's which was acutually a 24.8 diameter not 25.4 as i had previously thought. so i thought id be going from the 25.4 to 25.8 which would not even be noticable. however 24.8 to 25.8 obviously has its drawbacks. wheels look much larger, monster truckish when compared to previous ones , and speed and breaking compromised due to larger diameter as well as car is sitting almost inch higher all around.

all in all it looks amazing as long as i dont compare to privious ones. but if i could do it again i would have taken anything a could get and went with the 235's for the extra .3 drop although i still dont think it would give me what im looking for.

just my .02 and im definatly biased cause i dont think anyone on here had 24.8 diameter wheels. ha ha ha i basically had an extra inch drop without even realizing it till just now. oh well anyone want to buy a brand new set of 19"s on 245/35/19's continental dws tires? cant get the sport edition here in 19's so i ordered them from canada. paid 1200 plus 1000 for tires and install. make me an offer. i cant believe it but i miss my old lil 18's with the extra "drop" they provided argggggggg live and learn i guess
