Sigh.... unfortunately its going to.... its most pointless to start these type threads, however my input, no its not garbage and doing it for a 00-01 is perfectly fine seeing as though most of header gains for 00-01 comes frrom the y.... id definately do that for my 5th gen if that was an option when I had my 5th gen.... but you gotta go off things you know and what you wanna do, going on somewhere asking opinions don't help cause everybody has different opinions and your just gonna do what you want... to me if its so iffy to you, don't do it, spend your money where you know it will work...

I'm sure you will yield some good gains with that setup.

I am just a little skeptical of the shorty header design.

headers are just shorty headers.

IMO buy a real header setup, their catbacks are fine though

Don't want to start a debate, but

If I was planning on spending $500, I would get;

OBX headers (3.0 or 3.5) ~$350

Ebay Catback ~$150

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2000-...Q5fAccessories

That catback looks identical to the one CustomMaxima sells for $100 more.

if the OP had a 3.5 id be more hard pressed to say get a different header, but seeing as though whether you get a warpspeed Y or OBX or cattman headers, the difference in both is minimal because the precats are in the y for his 5th... no HP gains over CM headers vs OBX for the 5th gen, maybe in the 5.5 (thats not really proven but understand why) the actual gains on the headers only is probebly 2-5whp not worth the extra 200-500$ IMO

OBX is $400 shipped and the price is gonna go up with the v3
the ebay catback is probebly 150$ shipped, so we are talking about $550 and no hi flow cat also... in the end CM probebly still work out as a better deal

If the OP decides to get the CustomMaxima headers for $179, I would still get the ebay cat back instead of the CustomMaxima catback.

Looks like the exact same catback, just 100 dollars cheaper on fleabay.

And you can also get a resonated test pipe for $30 shipped on ebay, just buy the one for a 95 Maxima. (Test pipe isn't worth it IMHO though)

CustomMaxima catback for $250 shipped:

I was going to to that exact same thing. I was thinking about keeping my stock muffler though.

I just want that catback for the b-pipe.
