weird dome light issue

so im in the middle of doing the door handle led mod and i cut the dome wires in the A-pillar so i could splice my lines for the doors and when i reconnected everything my dome light when its on the "door" position stays on constantly and its fairly dim. when its on the on position it remains off as well as the off position. so i tried to just reconnect the wires without any of the extra wires for the leds and same thing. what could cause this? i literally reconnected the existing wiring and now it does this i checked all the fuses and couldnt seem to find the issue any help would be appreciated. i do not have the wires crossed or anything either. im hoping i can resolve this so i can finish the friggen project i started a month ago. i did a search came up empty

Is it an LED dome light or a regular dome light? I know a lot of the LED dome lights we use, they'll stay on because the actual draw required to run them is miniscule. They're just running off the residual power still in the lines.

If that's not it, you may have electricity jumping from one of the other lines causing it to stay on.

ok so to add to the list of weird issues. i was out workin on my system yesterday and with the door open key in ignition the dinger was going off so usually i just remove the black button that senses the doors open and unplug it. well i did that and it did nothing so im assuming all these things are related in some way. even when it was plugged in when i pushed it to shut up the dinging it didnt do anything. hopefully somebody has an idea cuz its starting to irritate the hell out of me! and i also noticed my ignition switch light doesnt work and it isnt the bulb

thats right, the dome light isnt dim anymore but i have no ign light and dome is constantly on in door position. when the door dinger is pressed in when i have the key on acc it doesnt shut the door lights off or stop the dinging. but its weird cuz when the car is running and the door is shut the door lights go off as normal. ive checked all the fuses and changed bulbs and same result.

Yea, that sounds strange. I hope someone can help you out. But I would 1) recheck the wires that you worked on. 2) swap someone's dome light and see if your dome light is working properly. Is the LED dome light plug and play or solder in?

I would use a voltmeter to help check the power voltage for each location.

You did something and now can not get the original wiring to work. Sorry bud, you just have to go and re-do it again. You'll get it!

for the most part yes and the map light does too. but when i hold the door sensor button down or unplug it which would usually shut the lights off and stop the dinging it does nothing. but they work fine while the car is running or if i just get out of it which is really throwing me off
