Tranny problem?

Tranny problem?
I've noticed that occasionally when I'm on the highway and downshift to pass someone, the tranny goes into 3rd gear normally, but as I start to get on the gas, the revs actually drop for a second but the car is accelerating. It's kind of hard to explain, so I have a video of it. Video.
The video's not so clear, so this is what happens: I shift to 3rd, then the revs go up to about 3,000 RPM. Next the engine revs to 3,400 RPM as I press the gas, then goes down to about 3,100 RPM. (All this time the car is still speeding up) After that, everything goes back to normal and the revs keep increasing.
I would say the tranny's slipping, but it's doing the opposite of what a slipping tranny does. Usually the revs increase while the speed remains constant. In the video, the revs are decreasing while the speed increases. Any thoughts?

Mines did the same thing....after goin into 3rd, it would rev to 3300 and then drop to 3100 and be normal the rest of the way. I was told it could be a problem with TC lock-up but not for certain.
Hell, I don't even know if it still does that. Haven't paid it any attention but I dont think it does.
Does it feel like its taking a long time for it to shift into 2nd?? Slow shifting??

if your @ highway speeds the trans supposed to be in OD with the shifter in D, then you throw it into 3rd (which would take you out of OD) giving you the higher rpms. OD keep your rpms low @ highway speeds. Take the car out on a open road going over 40 mph and shift from D to 3rd and notice the rpms jump up..

thats why i was saying it maybe a tune up issue. not trying to hi-jack your thread with a pontiac issue but i had a bonneville that bogged down when the trans went into od. changed the plugs, wires and cleaned the maf and all was fine.

Mines doesn't do that when I hit the gas. I would already be in 3rd gear. Once rpms climb up to 3400 they drop to 3100-3200 as if it loss power and then keep climbing. It does that in D and if I keep it in 3rd. But it ONLY happens in 3rd and not during shifts. My shift kit goes back in next weekend. I'll let you know if it works or not. It cleared up my problems with the last tranny but I didn't hook up my tranny cooler, so it toasted!!!! The kit was in for 8 months. Before it got bad. I also blame myself because I rode on the tranny for 9 months while it was slow shifting 1-2 and eventually it started spiking 2-3 all b4 I put the kit in.
