Is the maxima the fastest FWD produtcion car ever?!

I have been thinking about this for a while now. If the 2002 6spd maxima can do 0-60 in 5.9 & the 1/4 = 14.3, then is it the fastest front wheel drive car, ever? The closest car I can think of{other then Altima} would probably be a CL/TL type-S? A integra Type R is a bit slower so what else is there? This idea of mine only holds true for the USA and Canada becuase I really have no clue what other country's have to offer.

Another thing, is the 2K2 the cheapest car with HID's? It's definatly the cheapest car with standard HID's that I can think of. I think it's the cheapest period.

Impressive Some one prove me wrong please!

I think the Holden's are rear wheel drive.

How bout the Cadillac STS? I'm not sure of the acceleration time, but I remember it being fast too.

The cadi is packing a 300 HP North star V8 but weighs a LOT more then the max and is only made in auto. There not that fast, mid 15's in the 1/4 and low 7's 0-60 I think. Definatly now match for a new max

Just checked the STS's #'s and it is pretty quick. 6.5 0-60 and 14.8 in the 1/4, still a bit slower then a max though.

R/T can be made DAMN quick. But the styling and reliability is HORRIBLE.

Omega. Catera was Caddilac's rather bland attempt at copying these.

The saab 9-3 Viggen is the quickest saab to my knowlege. Road and track tested it at 6.4 0-60 and 15.0 in the 1/4.

Although I haven't driven the HSV commodore I remember reading a Car & Driver comparo between the HSV Commodore and the M5. They were rated almost equally in acceleration. The HSV fell short in shift action, but was superior in handling.

Yes, those Holden vehicles are monsters, performance wise. I mean, to outhandle the M5??? I read that article, too.

Emax - As far as the cheapest with HIDs standard, I think the Maxima is it. But as for cheapest car with HIDs, or as an option, you are forgetting his little brother (age, not weight or size), the Altima.

Also, apprently it is a little-known fact that every Civic made for the LA market has HIDs. Because last time I was there, every single Civic ahd that blueish light to the headlights. And they come with these big wings and stuff. Freaky.

Current production by GM Australia and definitely rear wheel drive. The Aussies don't like front wheel drive so they get some really different cars from GM and Ford. Ford sells a Falcon which is based on a very developed Mustang chassis with RWD and also a Ranchero type vehicle. Lots of V8's available too.

For fast FWD cars - how about the old Shelby Turbo Dodge Omni GLH?

I hate to say it, but it might be an 85' Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500
It could rip the 1/4 in 13.60@102MPH.

This ugly 3 door was 16th on this guy's Fast Ford's alltime list.. The one big catch is that maybe only 500 (homologation cars were built. But that amount technically meets a production value for racing requirements. Although, probably half were sold for street use in Europe.

I'm not a 100% positive but i think acura integra TYPE R is faster from 0-60.It does it in 6.1,6.2 secs. And if that not fast enough rsx type R in japan should be faster.

the current Type R runs 0 - 60 in 6.6 secs.. and we are not going to make assumptions on the japanese car since we don't know..

we're not taking into account cars in japan. and nope, the type r is not going to beat it from 0-60 if the driver of the 6spd knows what he is doing.

big deal..

when will you Acura Mag Racers ever learn if you can post a magazine link.. I can post one too thats going to show you my point

so you stop talking.. and check this ..

Naturally, aerodynamics also came under scrutiny. A new chin spoiler and rear wing contribute to a 30-percent reduction in the coefficient of lift and a one-percent improvement in drag. Out on the test track, all this translates to an appreciable improvement in the GS-Rs performance, trimming the 0-to-60-mph time by a halfsecond to 6.6 seconds, the quarter-mile performance by three-tenths of a second to 15.2 at 93 mph, and increasing the top speed by 9 mph to 143.
