Smelly in the Cabin help....

Well I just bought a 2001 max with black leather etx... Downgraded from Altima se-r anyway,
\
Bought the car from a guy in Jersey who had it parked under trees for all its life. I started cleaning the car and noticed ALOT!!!! of dirt and rotting leaves and dirt in all the door gaskets, fender corners door jams etc. But in side the car is also very smelly and musty kind of like rotting leaves in the car. Im thinking its coming thru some vents. It started smelling even more when i had the window cracked and made a little draft thru the vents.

So my questions is what do i clean besides the usual rugs, and door jams with all that dirt.

I also noticed that my sunroof drain is clogged and i started to have lots of water in the car, im hoping i don't have mold grow in the car?

Anyone had this problem?

i would check the in cabin air filter as a main source of smell being generated in the car behind the glove box. sucks man

Clean or change the cabin air filters and spray lysol in the vent by the windshield while the a/c is on and that should take care of it

Well yes first change the in-cabin filter as suggested, also unscrew the blower motor as it is most likely full of rotten leave debris as well.

Changing the in cabin filter may only help short term. You should also clean beneath your windsheild cowl. Never removed it from a 5th gen, but should be straight forward. Remove windsheild wipers, then find the screws holding it down. Remove, the clean out all the debri.
