hey guy, got an 03 se here with 102k. mine babe rattles at 2 rpm, as does alot of others here apparently. i have a feeling its my cat.. bank 2 under the hod, if thats the right bank #. anyways, also wen i floor it, it hesitates for about a good 2 seconds, and than blasts off, after the blast, smells like rotten eggs like crazy. sometimes i feel like shes not getting enough power. Going from 2nd to 3rd, wen im driving under the 2 rpm range, the 2nd it hits 3rd gear, there power loss, car even slows down a bit. Im a lil worried here. I dont have to much money to blow.. but can someone please tell me where.. or how i can find out if it is my cats? im also getting like 13 mpg in the city..


P.S i went to a muffle shop, and other places, and they cant tell me ****, because my engine light isnt on.. and hasn't been since i got the car.

 

If you have a rotten egg smell, that means clogged cat. A clogged cat will cause awful MPG and power loss.

 

so it doesn't always throw codes? and how do i find out which one it might be?

yeh sometimes it really weird.. ill gas her, and it takes long yes, also doesnt feel as powerful .. could it b my coils? the thing it.. i get all these sounds and everything.. smells, loss of power, horrible mileage but no codes .. i actually want a code to c wat i need fixing, cuz without one, i dont even know the source of the problem and its buggin me..

yeh 3 wekks ago actually, had a tune up done... coils are still pretty old thou.

 

Artemz, did you change your front cat? Did the smell go away?

I'm having the same problems...my gf keeps blaming me for the rotten egg smell in the car
