Solenoid Valve Assembly RE4F04B

Hello there cool cats..

Question...

Will this work for my 2001 Nissan Maxima built on 07/2000

Found this on ebay. Anyone know if this is correct? Looks about right...

Well, not a lot of info on the e-bay page. The transmission model of RE4F04B is correct for your car so it probably will fit. There is no reference as to who manufactured the part, so it may be safe to assume that it was not Nissan.

Check into the seller's guarantee about incorrect parts.

Thanks... That is what I figured out. I am guessing they are non-oem suppliers for use in rebuild kits. My Nissan has 213K on it and still runs like a champ besides the O/D Light flashing 16 times.

UPDATE

Okay, here is my results

I went ahead and ordered the following part from these local guys.

RE4F04B OEM SOLENOID KIT 2000-ON MAXIMA

http://www.ebay.com/itm/350005697955...84.m1497.l2649

In total with Tax was about 180.00

After jacking up the car and draining the fluid. I took a quick nap under the car. It was so nice and fresh. Something about a hard surface that just relaxes me. Any who, getting back to the point. I drained about 7 quarts of fluid to start off with.

Now the tricky part was pondering whether to drop the valve body. You have to. All because of some frigging bolts. Damn those bolts.

But there are some great write ups on how to remove the valve body. Just be careful with the spring that is going to fall. It is just one. And remember to check those 3 square seals. And make sure they are in place before re-installing the valve body. You can place some gear grease on the spring so it can be held in place while reinstalling the valve body. Otherwise it is a pain in the *** and gravity will troll you.

And I have to say, my O/D Light does not blink any more and she shifts like a brand new kitty kat. She purrs when she shifts now. Before she used to cough like old hag. But now she shifts as smooth as eggs.

Not bad for a tranny with 213K miles on it. Lol.

Tomorrow, transmission cooler :-)

You don't lay on the pavement, much less sleep on it, here in Texas. 105-110 degree cement burns. You gotta put cardboard boxes down to lay on.

But seriously, glad to hear you fixed the trans. How long did it take you? My trans has 94k on it and is starting to shift erratically, so I'm probably going to be doing this too. But I'm going to milk it until it cools down to 90 or so.

I did lay cardboard. In fact, it was so nice under there that my dogs came and napped with me. It took me about 4 Hours. about 1 an hour to swap out the parts. and the rest was walking back and forth pondering whether I should remove the valve body or not and pondering the what if something goes wrong... True story. But you just have to be extra careful. Also a tranny cooler will definitely help. I mean mines is shifting like new. And it has 213K miles on it.

But to see the price go up more than 135% in 18 months is a ripoff.

You can get the Nissan part on-line for $309 + shipping.

$307 + shipping here

The original post by the op had a link to a different supplier. That price is also up (IIRC the 2 suppliers were about the same), but not as bad. It is $290.
