SES Issue

ok so either the 4th gen guys are not as intelligent as you 5th geners or they jsut dont care lol. but anyway i have an issue with my moms car and i cant get any ideas from the 4th geners, so if you guys can help at all lemme know.....

So my moms car failed emissions checked the codes....0440 and 0446...looks like the evap solenoid might be bad??? I searched but all the threads lead to links that either dont work or go to something totally off subject. Anyone know what could fix this...change the solenoid??? anyone have the Part # checked the Courtesy website but there are quite a few different ones...any help would be great fellas!! its a 97 Fed spec.

Sounds like you may need to replace the Evap Canister ... I did find this info from a 98 Altima owner
The EVAP Canister Vent Control Valve (CVCV). This is located on the front of the EVAP canister which is located just behind the rear, drivers side tire. It can be removed w/ 2 screws, one hose, and one electrical connection. Apparently on certain years of the Altima's, water is able to creep back up the hoses and enter the CVCC --- which causes it to rust after several years. Some ppl install a Water Separator to solve this problem before it comes a problem. In my case, it was too late.

Perhaps give Dave B a call and explain your problem he's the best for getting the correct part number, and he also has a "End of the Month Sale" thread which you can save a few more bucks over the normal .org discount

Just some links that may help
http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread/253834

and yes the most common error is breaking the bolt and cracking the canister

I am also a victim of SES light.
I've got a 2002 Maxima... 136k Miles on mine and i've recently replaced both rear O2 sensors... as below

O2 Sensor - Rear bank 1 sensor 2
O2 Sensor - Rear bank 2 sensor 2

Few hundred miles later, I get the SES light again... this time its one of the front sensors...I am getting the following two codes.. I need help in figuring out where to go next... Any ideas ?

P1572 - ASCD Brake Switch Circuit Malfunction
P0031 - HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) Heater Circuit Low Input

Where is the Bank 1 Sensor 1 located exactly ? Pic would help a lot..
