Fog re-wire w/ tails
Attention for 00 and 01 owners who had this fog rewire mod!
I just want to confirm if my interpretation of shiftice's DIY is accurate, I am planning to do this awesome DIY this weekend.
Thanks in advance.
Here we go:
1. Locate YELLOW WIRE w/ 2 SILVER lines (from fog light relay). Terminate this wire.
2. On the same junction box, locate the Tail light wire, RED w/ GREEN stripe and SILVER spots.
3. Tap/join the above 2 together.
Therefore fogs will get power from the taillights. When the tails are on, the fogs can be turned on.
In my Acura 98 3.2TL, we spliced the fog lights directly to the power supply in the steering column. And therefore can be turned ON or OFF regardless of any other combination of lights.
Thanks again!

You better believe it! Can't stop thinking about the racingline battery tie down, LOL!
I have a $4 battery tie down from Autozone, almost a piece of junk but does the job. Do not know when the rubber will snap!

Mandyfig, it reads like you've got the rewire down correctly. I don't have a 5.0 gen, so that's not the confirmation you're looking for. But apparently my battery tie-down empowers me in ways I don't yet understand... so, I say you're good to go.
That black relay box is a total PITA to release and access. At least it was on mine last summer. Take your time. Cutting wires because of something you read online is a big leap of faith. You can do it, though.
Ah, the magical tie-down:

OP, once you have the confidence from doing this, the side-marker rewire will be a snap. Very cool seeing your front side-markers blinking in alternating sequence to your turn-signals.
And that, sir, is the extent of my electrical experiments, simple bulb replacements notwithstanding. If you need more, you'll need another, more deserving hero.

I want that Nissan logo, too! That is too cool!

When I re-wired my fogs I tapped into the AC power supply that way I could turn them on whenever. Not sure if its the same thing but I just cut 1 wire and spliced into another with a T adapter. was extremely simple. Did it so long ago that I can't remember which color wires they were though, the info is in this forum somewhere.
Rochester, wonder if I've seen you driving around sometime, I always noticed a fellow Maxima.

Maybe. I've been driving it for going on 8 years now, and I live in Irondequoit. Never actually seen another modded 5th gen around here... so much as I would know, I suppose. Looking forward to Maxus2010.

Ah, for the last 6 years I've been around Henrietta, Pittsford, ER, and Fairport. Looking at my car it never looked too modded, stock OEM 15" steelies and all, but I had some lighting, tint and a drop. Sold now though so keep an eye out for 1 of the 500 silver altimas driving around.
Enjoy Maxus, if I wasn't all ready taking so much time off this summer for shows i'd try and treck out.
