tranny filter issue

Ok,so i drained my fluid and dropped it and attempted at changing out my filter with my fluid however i got ONE bolt on a threaded rod on the filter that just kept spinning and spinning so i tried vice grips etc to get this off and nothing....so needless to say the old filter stayed on and i put it all back together with new fluid....is there a way to get that nut off? does every max have that one threaded rod or just mine??? gimme some feedback on the possibilities of whats to come in the future with my car?

This is a common problem, most people including myself just leave the old filter in there. I was leary of doing it, but after looking at it closely the old filter looked fine. It's a poor design IMO, I'm guessing you would have to pull the valve body to remove it once it starts spinning like this.
