i turn the car on and it makes a whining noise for a few seconds, i just had the belts replaced should i tighted the belts? could my power steering pump be crapping out on me??

 

What kind of whining noise? Pulley? Tensioner?

 

the sound like when a belt is going bad but i just had them done like 2 months ago. it only does it when i turn it on once the car is running it goes away it drving me insane

 

It could be you alternator starting to go...

Have you checked, or had the belts checked for tension? The belts may be TOO tight. Take it back to the shop you had the belts replaced and ask them to check belt deflection to make sure it is within spec. Also, have them check the pulley tensioner as well as that can be a cause.

May be your alternator, but doubtful. Check the simple stuff first...

i had a problem like this i replaced the idler pulley and it was good now im having a similiar problem again i start the car and the belt whines for about a second and stops....tensioner too tight not tight enough on its way out??

 

Need to add tension, if it squeels for a few secs.

 

If its a loud high pitch squeeling on cold start for for a few seconds as you first accelerate.. very likely that is is the tensioner pulley bearing or a/c pulley bearing.. however the tensioner is more likely. I have this problem and I'm getting it fixed today, will confirm if the bearing was the culprit.

 

I had this after I did the belts myself and I had them TOO tight, then I made them too loose, so easy thing just take the car to your car shop, or be prepared to give it a few tries.
