The capsules and the HIDS are completely separate. If you get 3k HIDS the light output is all ready yellow and you do not need capsules. If you are using standard white bulbs and want the yellow look, then you put the capsules in. I don't think you should use both.

The capsules themselves are not actually out of a lexus. When I changed mine years ago I ordered them from a company and they were just yellow capsules that you retro into the fog. I'll find more info if you really want to go that route.

Personally, if you want yellow fogs just get 3k HIDS. They are like $25 for a kit now. Otherwise you have to bake and open your fogs and install the capsules. Just so much more of a headache for less light vs going with HIDS.

I am looking at putting the 3000k HID bulbs in my stock fog lights. Is this just a plug and play bulb, or do I need to get a conversion kit for the fog lights? Please help.

Don't buy Lexus capsules. They don't tollerate heat well (with stock H3 bulbs). Mine shattered after about a month.

You'd need a kit. HIDs can't run without ballasts.
