5.5 gen maintenance?

I am 13k away from 100k, and other then plugs, what should I be looking to do?

I have a 6 speed and have done new fluid(2 times), new maf, brakes are done.

Also, where is the guide on testing the coil packs? Using search I can't find one.

Some suggestions:
  • Replace belts, if you haven't already.
  • Check your lower radiator support for excessive rust.
  • Check your lower oil pan for excessive rust.
  • Check your FSB end-links.
  • Replace the fuel strainer.
  • Replace the valve covers & gaskets.
  • Replace your in-cabin filter.

Haven't done any belts.
Lower radiator support has some rust.
Replaced lower oil pan.
Will prob just replace the end links.
Where is the fuel strainer?
Both valve covers & gaskets?

If you're at 85K, then definitely replace both belts. You're overdue.

+1 on that fuel strainer write-up at shiftice.com. It's often called a fuel "filter" here, but Nissan calls it a "strainer". Maybe because it's supposed to be lifetime? IDK. It goes against conventional wisdom that anything designed to filter impurities would be a lifetime component.

The OEM valve covers on the 5.5 have a design flaw in that the seals around the coil pack tubes become compromised by 5+ years of heat. They eventually start leaking oil. Particularly the rear VC. Lots of people confuse that oil loss with an oil burn. Replace them with the VC's for the 2004 Maxima. It's a slightly different design, but still fits perfectly. That, and they're about 1/3 the price of the 5.5 OEM valve covers.

Gotach.

So belts, plugs, covers/gaskets, fuel filter.

What about the gasket on the intake manifold when doing plugs?

Huh? You can buy these things anywhere.

But if you're dead seat about getting them from whoever sourced that listing, consider that you've already waited 8 years

The parts list is from courtesy Nissan. Bought the car used at 48k 3 years ago.

$20 here at Vision Nissan in Rochester, NY. Probably a few bucks less if I shopped around. It seems like Canadians are getting ripped off on car part prices. But at least you have health care.

Up there you wait in line for it, down here, we wait, but not as long, and there are no reach arounds when he bill comes.

I did everything on the list but the belts and the FSB endlinks.

I was searching threads on tips for changing the belts and I saw this.

Not sure if the belts were ever changed on 4AT 5.5 gen, it had 113k miles on it when I got it and 194,595 when it was totaled. Pretty sure it still had the original alternator too.
