starting warm car issue.

starting warm car issue.
Last year I posted a problem with my 2001 maxima se 5spd. I was mentioning that when I started my car when it was warm, it wouldnt turn over on the first turn of the key. This was a common problem, and apparently dissapeared after 5000km on the vehicle. So the car now has 23,000km and it occassionaly does it. To top it, it now begins to idle low and makes some knocking sounds from the back, which is probably the exhaust....That began after I got my 24,000 maintenace checkup last week.
Has anyone experienced anything like this?
Thanks,
Paul.

It has been a common problem. I went to the dealership one day for something and I noticed there were a lot of maxes in the service lane. And the service guys were literally pushing one into the garage area, so I asked the owner of the dealership how come there were so many maxes and what was going on. He said that there was a starting problem with the car and the car wouldn't start. They don't know what was going wrong. Even I have this intermitent problem sometimes. While not often, it seems to happen to my mom more than it happens to me (knock on wood). I have 10,600 miles on my car.

My friend had a 2K TL and after idling for a long period of time then turnin off then the engine then starting it again the car stall.
The Acura dealer said it was the gas boiling and screwing the EGR valve (I can't remembr the details) and they couldn't fix it so they just set the fan to stay on longer. Also after taking apart his dash, his dash lighting would flicker on and off.
After someone ran a redlight and wrote off his TL he bought a 01 Accord V6. after a year and a hlf he is now having the same problem. He just got a letter from Honda stating the problem and all they said was they would extend his warranty to 8 years.
So the problem appears to be (with Honda/Acura atleast) is that the Gas companies put additives in the fuel for winter. But when you arrive upon a warm day (it's 8C in Toronto right now) in the "winter gas" season you get this so called boiling of the gas issue.
Oh well I haven't had a problem with my 02Max and hopefully I won't.

I think I have an oppsite problem... move from a warm weather to an cold weather area... 5 speed, 32,000 miles, when it's really cold outside, when the car successfully turn on, it has this short sqeeke noise(less then half a sec)... anyone have this problem when it's cold? I have been using mobil 1 oil also..

What you mean by engine mount? I had to crank my bastard a 5 times last week, and the 5th time required a crank of over 5second to get that bastard started. I mean I got Mobile 1 oil too.
I got no idea what went wrong from that night to the next night.

My problem seems similar to Max2000's... My 01 SE with 7500 miles wouldn't start on Monday morning. After towing to the dealer, who was finally able to look at it this morning, it started fine for them. Sunday night was the first cold night we've had, but the car was in the garage all night. Lights, radio, etc. went on, but it just wouldn't turn over -- made a smooth whining sound. Is this what has happened to others or something different?

well guys I can think of a couple of different things that have gone bad on the car. When I do drive when it is cold the car, it revs very hard, as if it were reving at a higher rpm. Very sensitive. The gears dont care how cold it is, but the engine is very sensitive this year, unlike last. Aslo, I didnt drive the car for 4 days, and when i went to start it, the engine shook for about 2 seconds....Felt like a earthquake. Plus my shaking when the car does start when it is warm.....
