Security Lockout issue horror story...

My 00SE was garaged over the winter and would not start. So I went through all the checks, the ODBII was not reading any codes, it would crank but not turnover. I took out the back seat and disconnected the fuel line to see if it was pumping. It was, but in the process of disconnecting the fuel line I broke the fuel pump housing.

So...I bought a new fuel pump housing from Courtesy Nissan, then I put it back together and still nothing. So then I talked to a buddy who is a tech, he asked about the security light, which was not blinking when I turned the key. He said it's a safety lockout issue and I need to have the CONSULT. I towed the car to Nissan, they could not read the lockout antenna, so they replaced that, 426$.

Still would not start, so I asked them to take a look at the fuel pump, and I explained what I had done to the pump. I even explained it to the tech, in person. I asked him to remove the pump and look at it, just to make sure that I had put it back together correctly. I even took the car there with no back seat in it. They said they would.

Then they call me to say it's the pump, no pressure, 500 for a pump and 140 to replace it. I told them to not do anything, that I would tow it and do it myself. Then I bought an aftermarket pump for 130$. I went to the dealership to pay for the car. I then went out back and removed the 8 screws that were between me and the pump.

I had incorrectly connected the fuel lines, I had the retrun line going into the sending line, inside the actual housing. I switched them, and started it right up and drove off. I am a retard...

Then, to add insult to injury I'm driving away, someone had dropped something on my hood and made a very pronounced dent. I'm waiting for the service manager to get back to me on that one. They better fix it.

All this because you switched the fuel lines? OMG, you must have almost feinted when you realized this.

Good story. Damn shame about the dent.

The lockout sensor needed to be replaced regardless.
