Can i borrow a stock catalytic Converter

Currently i have a CC from warpspeed it s magna flow hi flow CC. My #'s on the smog are twice the legal limit. The CC does not work good enough. The smog guy said to put the stock one back on.

I do not have one, is there anyone close to temecula Ca, that i can borrow for the test.

I have cattman headers, so that means no pre-cats. Does anyone think that the stock CC will work good enough to past the test?

You can get one on Feebay for pretty cheap:

My Legend had a high flow cat that would put out high numbers also, but you litterally had to get it very hot by revving it for 30 seconds or so just before the test started...then it would work right...

i might need to do this too. I bought a new cat, not even a high flow one, but I didnt pass. Running rich from headers FTMFL. Maybe if you get the cat so hot its almost on fire it will pass. Thats my plan

So you didn't pass because your too rich? I didn't know that was criteria for failure.

high HC, relatively high but passing CO and extremely low NOx = rich

Makes me think your car wasn't @ operating temp, i.e. closed loop still (coolant below threshold for open loop crossover, less than ~70ºC, IIRC)

yes, I dont think it was warm enough. that plus having 5 miles on a new cat I think were large contributing factors. unfortunately, now I have a short somewhere on my harness that takes out the vias and a few other things, throwing a code, so I wont be able to find out if warm/hot cat will work any time soon

They plug in an OBDII scanner for the test. PA is the same way.

Not usually, to my knowledge they use a hook up the scanner to the OBD port and scan for codes.

Here in Colorado Springs they stopped doing all emissions tests for all cars except diesels many years ago. It's really nice not having to worry about that nonsense anymore.

You can have mine if you pay shipping. The main cat isn't monitored by the ECU and here in Texas they only check for codes. What is weird is the only thing they physically check is the gas cap.
