Custom Maxima Exhaust System Reviews???

Hey, has anyone bought the Custom Maxima Exhaust system. I think my exhaust system is blown, need to go get it check in the shop next week, but thinking about getting modded stuff instead of OEM if i'm gonna have to replace it anyway. Think my Y Pipe and Muffler might be shot, so thinking about changing my exhaust system, thinking about Custom Maxima since its cheap, but how's the quality, is it awful as well? Has anyone bought these, and if so, how was the fit and quality, was it an easy install, I mean its gonna have to go to the shop and how much would it cost to drop in headers?

Thanks for any comments.

I did not buy the Custom Maxima Exhaust I got a Megan Racing exhaust system. I did buy a Custom Maxima catalytic converter though and headers. I returned the headers because I found out that it would take 8-15 hours depending on if they have to take out the engine and how smoothly everything goes.

As far as the exhaust and cat it took 2 hours and I paid $125, but I also go new battery terminals on and had a $20 off coupon. The guy I went to charged $50 an hour which is a really good deal.

I'd say that it will be a decent product and it is something you will have to find someone who has it. Just keep in mind you get what you pay for.

Hope this helped you out.

Whoa, whoa. Before you read into the header comment, headers should NOT require removal of your engine. Ever. They do require lowering your subframe, but not removal of the motor. There are several DIY threads, and several more header threads about this.

Carry on with the CE Exhaust review thing.

Maybe that's what it was then but regardless to have someone out the headers in I was told that it would take over 8 hours and I even called a shop specialized in exhaust and they said it would take at the least 9 hours.

I have the custom maxima exhaust and I LOVE it, install was a breeze and fitment is perfect. I love the deep low tone it produces. If your looking for a loud burly sounding exhaust this is the one, of course you could always use the silencer i guess

Honestly, as I have said from day one, the "Custom Maxima" exhaust is the same exact thing as the massivley produced ebay exhaust. The only difference is the price tag. I bought my ebay evo 2 replica for $150, while custom maxima charges well over $200. I know this for a fact because I helped a buddy out with his install, and sure enough his Custom Maxima cat-back was identical to mine. They are even the same when it comes to fitment. Both will require either larger rubber mounts, or hose clamps to keep from banging over the rear axle. Also, it is worth noting that your gas tank heat shield will have to be bent back away from the b-pipe as well.

I could not be any happier with my exhaust. It has a nice mellow tone to it without an overwhelming drone. Keep in mind, it is significantly louder than the stock system. How significant, well that is for you to decide. My only fear is what it will sound like after I install my equal-length headers.

Wow, this is surprising. I just checked ebay, and can't even find the one I bought anymore. It did come with a silencer, and was often refered to as: BBP, or N1. All I see for our cars now is the model without the silencer. It's strange because a few months ago there were hundreds listed all over ebay.

Custom maxima has actually brought their price down to $169.99, which isn't bad at all. As long as shipping is resonable, this would be a good route to go. Goodluck

How can you say "Fantasy", when looking at that beautiful, 2-door Maxima logo?

It's kind of like Frankencar has been reborn as the new Custom Maxima.

I ordered their Hi-Flow Cat and they sent me their Exhaust system as well. An obvious mistake...It looked pretty flimsy. The pipes were shiny and all, but the Muffler didn't have that solid (well-made) feel. I contacted Custom Enterprise and I sent the exhaust on it's merry little way. I almost...considered keeping it...but I looked at their site...and for $160...(You get what you pay for). Besides, it wouldn't compliment by HKS Sport Exhaust that I already have on my max.

Just my .02

I'd wish someone would buy this header assy to quiet the critics....I'm estimating a 13-18 whp gain with this setup....that's a pretty good bang for the buck....It really makes me wanna get another 5th Gen to use as a testing mule! I know where there's a repair shop with a mechanic's lean on a 2002....still waiting to here what they want for it....

Did you end up getting the custom maxima exhaust? If so how does it sound like inside the cab while cruising?

GAH!!! People, come on! SEARCH for bloody he!l's sakes! Almost every thread on this custommaxima exhaust will inform you that it's just a resold ebay exhaust. If you get it from custommaxima, you'll pay more.

Here you go:

With OBX V2s:

Second video is the same exhaust with a nicer-looking muffler welded on. So you get the point.

eBay EvoII knockoff = CM exhaust.

I know someone that bought those custom maxima headers but he doesn't do anything on here but hang out in the background.... never replies, nor interacts! There was a fitment problem @ the 3 bolt header collector flange and ypipe....flange clock angle were wrong so none of the bolt holes lined up @ that flange. he had to cut and reweld....

Isn't is strange that you rarely read posts in strong defense of this brand? What does it mean when a manufacturer (scratch that, I mean retailer) doesn't stand up for the quality of their product?

There's a marketing philosophy at work here which has nothing to do with value or pride. Caveat Emptor is a catch phrase rationalization used by small, worthless people.
