Pinging engine
Pinging engine
I've habitually been using Chevron 93 octane with a few tanks of 89 here and there. The engine still pings after I turn off the car and lasts for about a minute or so. Anyone know why this is?

Your engine can't ping if it's off. You have another issue.

Anyway, you know, those pings that sound like little explosions
when you shut the engine off. I heard it underneath the car. They're not that loud...kind of like loud ticking sounds.

Yeah, they are little explosions but that shouldn't happen though. If it's underneath your car, it might be metal banging on something.
Ticking noises? My car make a weird ticking noise when the car just shuts off. Sort of like "tick tick tick tick tick wok wok wok" It's normal.

Sounds like an exhaust shield or something else heated just cooling off. Very common
oil dripping back into the pan?
Heated metal parts from the frame or chassis contracting as they cool and flexing a little?
I don't think it's engine "pinging" though

Exactly slllyod. The exhasut gets very hot, and when you shut the car off, the metal is contracting back to it's normal state. You can acutally hear it clicking when the car is running, that's the metal constantly changing temperature. Don't worry about it.
