May be your crank sensor. Call the local dealer and tell them to look up your Vin number for recall about crank sensor. They do it for free. I had the same thing happen to last week and it doesn't shut off on me anymore.

I would still check for codes, then go from there.

There's a small chance that the cam sensors can fail again, but usually, if you persist with starting, it will crank up after 5-6 tries. Good luck. I say read codes again.

The problem is not any of those. The problem is that he doesn't have power. I am willing to bet dollors to doughnuts that the AT blinking is another indication that he is missing power to the AT as well and probably the fuel injectors.

How do you know the relays are good? Just because they click doesn't mean they are good. I don't know these cars inside and out like I do some others, but I am going to have to guess that you are not checking all the circuits involved. If someone would link me to a schematic I will look at it.

Also by your description of it cranks but doesn't turn over, you mean that it will crank, meaning the engine turns over by the starter but does not give a hint of firing off. And since you don't have power to the coils or fuel pump and it looks like your computer since the scanner can't connect it won't run.

I am betting it's a relay if all your fuses are good.

I have an 01', but I looked at the relays I have, and I noticed that behind the Dr side head light there is a set of relays. One is the for the computer and uses the same relay as the Fan 2 relay, swap those 2 and see what happens. I think the fuel pump had it's own relay, but I don't know how the system is wired.

Hope this helps

Jeff

well i think my security system locked up on me due to the fact that i tried starting the car like 10 separate times after it died. i think if u do it like more than 5 times it locks up cuz it thinks someone is trying to steel the car. its like a heightened safety feature i guess. i called the dealer and they concurred. they said i have to have it serviced there now. now all i have to do is bend ova and let the dealer rape me..with no lube

Well good luck with that. The security system cannot shut your car down in the middle of a drive cycle, and I doubt that that many systems are involved in the security system. I started installing alarms and such in the 80's and up until the last few years I have never seen a system that would cause the problems you are seeing. Your car has other problems. Did you at least try to swap the relays? And again how do you know the relays are good?

no no no. im sayin i think the car alarm disababled maybe power to the coils and what not afta i tried starting all those times. its evident that theres something wrong with car thats not the security system cuz it caused the car to die out WHILE i was driving. he was just implying that now that the security sytem is locked up you have to come back here anyway and get that unlocked so u might as well have them diagnose it while there at it...im so fed up with this car at this point that im willing to dish out cash just to figure out whats wrong wit the car and share my new found knowledge with all of you.

Try that Relay I mentioned. At least try this Escape from lockout second for your lockout problem, it might not work since the ECU has no power, but it seems, the security system is kinda a stand alone maybe it will work. Unless the car has fusible links its a relay problem you still haven't answered the question on how you know they are good.

2. Turn ignition switch ON with registered key. (Do not start engine.) Wait 5 seconds.
3. Return the key to OFF position.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 twice (total of three cycles).

5. Start the engine.

Well its a simple problem with a schematic, I know they have them on this site somewhere. Have you checked power at the fuses? What about power to the relays? The coils and contacts may be on different circuits.
