DEK Tune Up and Mod Questions
hey everyone. i have an 01 and my MAF juss went on my car. the car isnt reving past 2500 rpms.
i want to replace the MAF and do a tune up.
i would appreciate it if you guys can point me in the right direction on tune up parts and whats the best out there from spark plugs to belts and everything that needs and should be changed.
i would also like info on what else i can do to my DEK to help performance wise and what i can use from a 300zx and what i cant.
can i up grade my cams? if so to what? what is the LIM Mod? how much should that cost.
ive been slacking on modding my engine and would just like to do everything the right and proper way. plz let me know anything and everything that needs to be known.
also opinions on a Apexi Neo
Thank You for any and all help

Welll.... you can just use NGK platinum plugs, belts I'm not sure but just hit up pep boys... try get a hold of DaveB (the parts guy) for the MAF or maybe look into upgrading to the land rover MAF if you have a afc of some sort..... as far as I know the only worthy thing from your 300zx is the wheels and breaks
EDIT: I forgot about your cams question.... I believe I recognise yu car from another nissan forum.... idk how agressive a cams your trying to use but you can go from an extremely mild upgrade with the uprev cams I believe 248/248 to I believe its the nismo cams with 278 duration I believe.. the all motor section has more details

MAF - Replace with 22680-2Y001
Belts you should be able to get from any store/dealer/whatever.
Spark plugs - NGK Iridium IX is what I use
they're pretty good.
You can't use any parts from a 300ZX that would gain horsepower.
You can upgrade your cams, using VQ35-spec cams, which means..
Any factory VQ35 camshaft
Any aftermarket VQ35 camshaft (JWT, Tomei, Nismo etc)
However you'll need stiffer valve springs/retainers (out of a VQ35HR) and a tune. I wouldn't waste my time on this unless you already had full bolt ons (I/H/E/piggyback ECU)
LIM Mod?
Elaborate on that.
My advice, get headers and a 3" cat-back first (yes, I said 3"
)
Then get a tune, using a VAFC/SAFC2/Neo or Greddy Emanage Ultimate. The E-ultimate makes more power, since you can control ignition and raise the rev limit.
You'll need a wideband to tune anything. Common options are AEM UEGO, Innovate LC1/LM1, and Zeitronix ZT2.

have you ever cleaned out the IACV/throttle body? If no then get that done and replace the old gasket with a new one. The IACV is notorious for going out and it also takes the ECU with it.
So that + coolant flush should definitely be on your to do list..
