Motor mount help

2002 SE 6spd

so i have some clunking coming from my car when going over depressions in the road. i was advised to check the motor mounts on the right side. I know that people have put in the ES mounts and really like them. ive heard people talking about the front and back mounts and replacing those. ive tried to search this topic but just keeping coming up with opinions on those that have replaced the mounts or find stuff on google that might as well be german. advice, input or suggestions greatly appreciated. hell point me in the right direction and thats fine

Is this what i need?

also what are these?

thanks

B

if it makes the sound going over bumps, it sound more like suspension/lower control arm bushings

motor mounts make the sound during acceleration and decceleration

A bad passenger mount will make a noise going over small bumps on the road.

I could hear my passenger side mount cause a thump when i pulled out of my driveway onto the street over that little ridge between the street and driveway.

New mount and it doesnt do it anymore.

Bad LCA's will cause the car to wander at higher speeds and you will also feel vibrations while braking as the suspension assembly will shimmy. Basically you will not feel confident at speed if your LCA ball joints and bushings are shot.

my LCA bushings were bad and the ONLY effect was thunking over bumps...no other way to tell...but I also has a LTB that was keeping everything together

true that.

I've had LCA's go bad on 3 cars now.
My jetta when she rolled over 80K.... my Maxima as she rolled over 140K and my 330CI as she rolled over 16K ... each had the symptoms... on my jetta it was exactly like yours only thunking. The maxima did the shimmy on braking and higher speeds and thunking since they were like gone. The BMW had an issue with LCA's from factory and did only vibration on braking but did not clunk. They covered them under warranty.

Clunk sound when the wheel, (right front), drops off an uneven surface was my problem. New RF engine mount, (@the inner fender up top), solved it.
