What do you do to make your engine look pretty? :)

i dont like red in our engine bays...I like everything to blend...i would get black...they will still look better than stock
the wife does PR and was doing some work with Aaron to promote the product...he was going to sponsor me because I was getting in to road course racing...but then I got orders and it all fell apart

I think I bought one of the first sets as well since I got a good deal since one of the pieces was semi damaged, he let me have the set for a discount, I just couldn't wait for the next batch
. But, Sooner's wasn't the car that was tested with them. just sayin'.

I need to eyeball my engine bay for a while on this red vs. black radiator hose idea. Let it rattle around... there's no rush. Seems both upper/lower hoses are readily available as a kit through ebay for $45+.
Does anyone know what the recommendation is on rad. hose replacement? Age? Mileage?

and thats why I said, "the first set once they were complete"

2. let sit
3. hose off
4. let dry
5. for a shine, use foaming tire shine

I think something more permanent is zoop, but at ten times the price. simichrome is a breeze to use.

IMO, I wouldn't do the red radiator hoses, it'd look awkward. Get an optima red top battery, fill in the engraving/etching on your battery tie down red (if possible) and maybe get some red couplers for your intake. Red is a tricky color...it really "pops" due to it having the highest wavelength interval (not trying to be geeky here..just saying), so it can get garrish quick. Garrish doesnt seem your style, so you need to be careful.

I've considered colored couplings in the SRI before, but never pursued it further. That's definitely something I could look into.
As to the battery tie-down... getting some red in there is do-able. But if you look at the way it's etched, the "R" is raised, while the other letters are lowered. It might look good... need to think that one over too.
Thanks for the ideas! (Racingline's photo, not mine... hence the focus issues.)

That's good advice. Last night, I was looking at the engine bay with the idea of red radiator hoses, and came down decidedly on the "No" side of that option. They're going to stay black.

Guys, where could I buy red coupling hoses for the SRI?
Maybe. I need to think on it. It would match what I've done with the burger, so I might actually do this. Not the FSTB; that's clean, smooth and shiny, with no etched-in logo at all. I rather like it that way.
OK. Thanks. What's ironic is that one of their FSTB engine-bay photos is actually my car, from last last year when they sold me to tower brace.

i'm not big on red in the bay..i hated my intake because of...but you have JUST ENOUGH to make it look nice, i say thats good enough, no red hoses..

I just realized that I happen to have a brand new MAF housing sitting right here on the shelf, left over from when I replaced the MAF a few months ago. It's currently flat black, and ripe for prime & paint.
I wonder... is there a color scheme I could play with on the SRI? New couplings, painted MAF housing, new brackets? Can couplings be bought that are shiny black? And I could paint the MAF housing gloss black. Can coupling brackets be found in chrome?
Just thinking aloud.

What the...?

You know, I think my radiator hoses are originals at 62K miles. Maybe I could stand to replace them?

Thanks for the heads up, Perk. Shame about what happened to you in January.
I was just using that as an example of colored radiator hoses. Until this thread, I didn't even realize such an animal existed, and it caught me by surprise.
